After 6 months, the US Congress finally agreed on the budget.

Thus, after 6 months since the 2024 fiscal year begins in October 2023, the US Congress can manage to pass a $1,200 budget bill to spend on government operations, according to Reuters.

Key federal agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, the Department of State and the Department of the Treasury will be fully funded through the end of this fiscal year, which ends on September 30.

A day earlier, the US House of Representatives also passed the bill with a vote of 268-134, meaning the bill is now ready for President Joe Biden to officially sign into law.

The bill does not, however, include military aid to Ukraine, Israel or Taiwan, which was included in another bill that passed the Senate but was ignored by the House.

However, the current bill includes $886 billion in defense spending for the Pentagon, including pay raises for U.S. troops. President Joe Biden has said he will sign the bill.

Before the two houses of the US Congress reached a consensus on the budget bill, the Washington administration struggled to "survive" based on four short-term bills.

In addition, the federal government currently carries a public debt of nearly $34.6 trillion.
