Survey data has revealed a real underground tunnel system that exists beneath the Sforza Castle, previously unexplored and possibly connected to several secret military routes.
Speaking to SciTech Daily , Professor Franco Guzzetti (Polytechnic University of Milan) said the research aims to create a digital replica of the Sforza Castle, including what we still see as well as the ancient structures.
This ancient castle was originally built in the 15th century and has undergone many renovations since then.
These findings are preliminary, through virtual images, looking through the ground. It is still unclear which passage from the castle can lead to this mysterious underground tunnel system. Therefore, in the future, scientists will need to organize more field surveys.
