Attending the meeting were representatives of Que Son district leaders and more than 250 cadres, guerrillas, and resistance fighters from Son Thang commune (old).
Son Thang is a commune located near Cam Doi base, Lac Son and Hon Chieng mountain. During the resistance war, the people of Son Thang commune together with the people of the whole country made the victory of the August Revolution in 1945. In December 1965, the commune's guerrilla unit coordinated with local troops and the main force of the Military Region to organize a battle in Cam La forest (now Tay Tra village, Que An commune), killing more than 100 Bao An soldiers and killing Pham Trieu - Chief of Police of Son Thang commune, breaking the stranglehold on the people.
The most outstanding achievement of the Son Thang guerrillas was the first battle against the Americans in the Thang Dong village, in which they killed 20 Americans in one day of fighting. After this battle, the district proposed that the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam award them the Third Class Military Exploit Medal.

In the battle combined with the uprising attack at Cay Coc hill, Son Thanh commune, under the leadership of the Party, the army and people of Son Thang commune seized the opportunity, rose up and won, contributing to the victory of Spring 1975.
Returning to peacetime, cadres, guerrillas and resistance fighters in Son Thang commune always set an example, promoted solidarity, and contributed their intelligence to build their homeland to become more and more prosperous.
