On the evening of November 17, in Busan City (Korea), the Organizing Committee of the 2023 Asian Urban Landscape Awards presented awards to the winning projects.
Nghinh Phong Square - famous check-in spot of Tuy Hoa City
This year's Asian Urban Landscape Awards highlight creativity in green urban design and planning, based on five criteria: environmental friendliness; sustainable safety; respect for local culture and history; artistic quality; contribution to the development of the region and being a model for other cities.
The organizing committee has chosen to award prizes to 9 works from 5 countries: Japan, China, Korea, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
Mr. Cao Dinh Huy, Chairman of Tuy Hoa City People's Committee (right), received the award from the organizing committee.
Among them, Nghinh Phong Square is the only project in Southeast Asia to win the award. This project was highly appreciated by the professional council for its community space connecting people and its complete, flexible construction concept, adapting to harsh coastal weather conditions.
Nghinh Phong Square is located on the central coast of Tuy Hoa City, the starting point of Nguyen Huu Tho Avenue intersecting with Doc Lap Street, part of a coastal public space project of more than 7,000m2 , including items: protective embankment, park, walking street...
Of which, the Nghinh Phong twin towers are over 25m high, built in 2020 and operating with the square from 2021 with a total investment of 128 billion VND.
The project was built from the idea of Huni Architectes Company (France) with inspiration from the unique hexagonal stone pillars of the famous Ganh Da Dia landscape and the legend of the dragon and fairy's descendants "a hundred eggs hatching a hundred children", conveyed through the architectural language of twin towers, one high on one side and one low on the other, symbolizing Lac Long Quan and Au Co.
Nghinh Phong Tower at night is sparkling with colors
At the foot of each tower are 50 stone blocks stacked on top of each other, symbolizing "a hundred eggs and a hundred children" following their parents to the forest and the sea. Nghinh Phong Tower has a reinforced concrete core, with a granite exterior.
The impressive facade lighting was implemented by Nhat Huy Construction and Trading Company Limited, with high intensity InteliHue & Powercore technology creating a multi-colored light dance. In particular, the space between the two Nghinh Phong towers is only enough for two people to stand, every time the wind blows through the gap it creates a natural sound, this gap is decorated with images of Phu Yen.
Thanks to its meaningful architectural language and local imagery, the project is both familiar and has high cultural and artistic value.
After completion, the square and especially the Nghinh Phong tower area will become a new symbol of Tuy Hoa - Phu Yen tourism, where many major local and national events take place.
The Asian Townscape Award (ATA) is an international award since 2010. Up to now, there have been 166 projects in 122 cities of 16 countries participating in the nomination.
