Quang Ninh: Ship owner fined for allowing tourists to play Pickleball on deck

On April 16, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh issued Decision No. 2/QD-XPVPHC on administrative sanctions for violations in the field of sports that endanger the lives and health of those practicing and competing.

The Department imposed a fine of VND12.5 million on business household Vu Dinh Nhuyen (house number 258, group 84, zone 8, Ha Khau ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province). The authorized representative is Mr. Vu Dinh Manh (born in 1984, living in the same Ha Khau ward, Ha Long city).

This business household was determined to have committed an administrative violation as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 7, Decree No. 46/2019/ND-CP dated May 27, 2019 of the Government regulating administrative sanctions in the field of sports (amended and supplemented in Decree No. 129/2021/ND-CP dated December 30, 2021 of the Government).

Specifically, the Black Pearl QN-6699 organized the sport of Pickleball on the deck, endangering the lives and health of those practicing and competing (allowing a man playing Pickleball to rush out to catch the ball and then jump into the sea without wearing a life jacket).

Black Pearl QN-6699 has removed all Pickleball court tarps from the deck.

Previously, on April 14, a video clip was circulated on social media recording two male tourists playing Pickleball on the deck of the Black Pearl, numbered QN-6699. The incident was watched by many people, including children.

Notably, in a situation of saving a ball, a male tourist jumped from the deck of the ship into Ha Long Bay, causing public concern about the safety of the tourist. After being posted, the clip quickly went viral, attracting many comments. Most of them said that the man's behavior was too dangerous./.
