DNVN - Speaking at the "Conference on Sustainable Development of Marine Aquaculture - View from Quang Ninh" on the morning of April 1, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky - Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee affirmed that Quang Ninh's marine aquaculture strategy is to take specialized farmers as the core. Quang Ninh creates the best conditions for marine aquaculture investors.
According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky - Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, with the continuous innovation of thinking about rapid and sustainable development, for 9 consecutive years (2015 - 2023), Quang Ninh has maintained a growth rate of local gross domestic product (GRDP) of over 10% in 2023, reaching over 11%, leading the Red River Delta. The economic scale ranks third in the Northern region.
Quang Ninh also holds the top position in the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI), has led the administrative reform index for 4 years, shaping the Quang Ninh brand as a safe - convenient - transparent - attractive and successful investment destination.
"Quang Ninh's development perspective is to develop a blue marine economy, sustainably use marine and ocean resources for economic growth, improve people's livelihoods and jobs. Ensure the health of marine and ocean ecosystems, do not trade environmental resources for growth, and develop the marine economy at all costs," Mr. Ky emphasized.

According to the Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, the province will develop to soon become the leading marine economic center in Southeast Asia. Marine aquaculture will be the province's spearhead economic sector in the coming time. Quang Ninh's marine aquaculture strategy is to take specialized farmers as the core, taking added value as the goal towards multi-value.
The province's great advantage will be to take advantage of the tourist market of over 20 million visitors each year for on-site consumption and export. Combining aquaculture towards the sea with high-tech, effective, sustainable seafood exploitation, associated with firmly ensuring national defense and security.

At the conference, Ms. Hilde Solbakken - Royal Norwegian Ambassador to Vietnam shared her experience in marine farming in Norway. The Ambassador said that this was her second visit to Quang Ninh in the past 2 weeks. The fact that she had more dialogues on marine farming in the locality is a positive signal for future cooperation between Vietnam and Norway.
“The most important thing is that the two countries are actively exchanging rather than competing in the market, providing valuable opportunities to exchange experiences and learn from each other. Cooperation in marine aquaculture and seafood not only brings economic benefits to both countries but also strengthens the relationship between Vietnam and Norway,” said Ms. Hilde Solbakken.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, recently, the Government, the Prime Minister and the Ministry have issued many policies and programs to promote the development of marine aquaculture. Thanks to that, some departments supporting the marine aquaculture industry have been initially formed in Vietnam such as infrastructure for seed production areas, concentrated farming areas; supporting industries (feed, farming equipment); processing industry, developing consumer markets, etc.
Currently, marine aquaculture plays a particularly important role in developing the marine economy, aiming to turn our country into a strong marine nation, rich from the sea in the century of seas and oceans. The Prime Minister has approved the Project on developing marine aquaculture until 2030, with a vision to 2045.
The project aims to have a marine farming area of 280,000 hectares by 2025, an output of 850,000 tons, and an export turnover of 0.8 - 1 billion USD. By 2030, the marine farming area will reach 300,000 hectares, an output of 1.45 million tons, and an export turnover of 1.8 - 2 billion USD.
The development orientation of our country's marine aquaculture industry in the coming time is to develop industrial marine aquaculture with advanced technology, strict planning, and modern management methods. Developing marine aquaculture in coastal areas, offshore areas, offshore and onshore.
At the same time, promote the biodiversity of the tropics. Integrate economic and technical resources of the oil and gas, shipbuilding, maritime transport, and ecosystem engineering industries to ensure sustainable development.
