On December 13, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province held a meeting to listen to a report on the content of the National Refinery, Petrochemical and Energy Center Project in Dung Quat Economic Zone.
The project of the National Refinery, Petrochemical and Energy Center in Dung Quat Economic Zone sets out three major goals of energy security and socio-economic development; green and sustainable development; and investment attraction.
By 2030, the National Refinery, Petrochemical and Energy Center will meet all the petroleum needs of the Central Highlands region and at least 30% of the national petroleum needs, contributing 30% to the economic growth of Quang Ngai province. By 2030, about 5-10% of the center's electricity will be produced from renewable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 15%. The recycling rate and waste utilization in production will reach 10%. By 2050, about 20% of the center's electricity will be produced from renewable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30%.
Regarding investment attraction, by 2030, the National Refinery, Petrochemical and Energy Center will attract about 15 billion USD of domestic and foreign investment capital. Form a cooperation network with the world's leading energy and technology corporations.
By 2050, become the leading refining, petrochemical and energy center in Southeast Asia, attracting 50 billion USD in investment capital, becoming an innovation center in the energy and materials sector.
At the meeting, Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang said that the National Refinery, Petrochemical and Energy Center in Dung Quat Economic Zone plays an important role in attracting investment, creating jobs, and contributing to changing the growth balance of the province in the future. Quang Ngai will actively consult experts to add more convincing proposals to the project.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province requested relevant departments and branches to actively supplement the contents discussed and proposed at the meeting to complete the project, and soon submit it to the Provincial People's Committee as a basis for submitting to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for consideration and asking for the Central Government's opinion.
