Each ethnic group has its own cultural identity, creating a colorful picture of Quang Ngai culture. Combined with the unique natural landscape, it has created an extremely valuable asset, attracting tourists to develop various types of eco-tourism, community tourism, and rural tourism.

In Tra Bong district, landmarks such as Ba Tang waterfall, Tra Boi stream, Thach Bich hot mineral water source, Truong Ba temple... along with the cool climate are ideal conditions for the locality to develop eco-tourism and resorts. Despite the great potential, tourism activities in the mountainous districts of Quang Ngai are still underdeveloped. They are eager for big investors to invest in exploiting the tourism potential. However, many different barriers make it difficult to call for investment and develop tourism.

Exploiting potential to increase income and people's lives

At the workshop "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development in Quang Ngai province", which took place on November 23, Dinh Xuan Thang, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of the Ethnic Committee, commented that Quang Ngai has many advantages and potentials to develop tourism associated with the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities. The reason, according to Dinh Xuan Thang, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of the Ethnic Committee, is that traditional festivals of ethnic minorities and a series of natural cultural heritages have a special appeal to domestic and foreign tourists.

This is an opportunity to form new tours "traditional festival tours of ethnic minorities", which not only create attractiveness for the destination, but also contribute significantly to building the brand image of the destination and meeting the goal of sustainable tourism development of the locality.

Bản sắc văn hóa truyền thống của đồng bào DTTS ở vùng cao Quảng Ngãi có sức hút đặc biệt đối với khách du lịch trong và ngoài nước.

The traditional cultural identity of ethnic minorities in the highlands of Quang Ngai has a special attraction for domestic and foreign tourists.

In addition, introducing and promoting traditional festivals in tourism activities actively helps people perceive in a practical way the material and spiritual values of the festival.

“The above will help to arouse and educate pride in traditional culture, increase awareness of protecting and preserving festivals, and help people earn more income to improve their lives, contributing to the development of the local economy through food services; selling brocade products and local specialties,” said Mr. Thang.

Also at the event, Dr. Do Thi Thanh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Institute for Tourism Development Research, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that basically, the government and tourism industry of Quang Ngai have certain concerns, issued policies, and supported socio-economic development and tourism in ethnic minority areas. However, in reality, tourism exploitation and development activities in these areas still have many limitations.

Mặc dù có nhiều tiềm năng, tuy nhiên việc đầu tư khai thác tiềm năng phục vụ cho du lịch ở vùng cao Quảng Ngãi vẫn chưa xứng tầm.

Although there is a lot of potential, investment in exploiting the potential for tourism in the highlands of Quang Ngai is still not commensurate.

Ms. Hoa suggested that the province should rely on cultural characteristics, strengths in landscape ecology and market demand to diversify and improve quality, enhance competitiveness of tourism products, focus on building tourism products associated with learning about culture, folk arts; tourism associated with traditional festivals; culinary tourism.

Community tourism, experiencing the life, work, and daily activities of ethnic minorities; community ecotourism combined with sightseeing and exploring wild nature; sightseeing tourism, experiencing traditional craft villages and occupations; shopping tourism for highland specialties.

Developing tourism in ethnic minority areas in the mountainous areas of Quang Ngai not only brings economic benefits to the locality but also contributes to the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values. When tourism develops, people have more job opportunities, increase income and improve the quality of life.

Cục trưởng Cục Du lịch Quốc gia Việt Nam Nguyễn Trùng Khánh.

Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh.

Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh emphasized: "The unique cultural values of ethnic minorities create different and unique tourism products. Ethnic minorities participating in creating products as well as providing tourism products and services will create livelihoods for them, connecting them with the work of preserving and promoting their traditional values. This is a very important requirement in sustainable tourism development, both preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, serving tourism development."
