Quang Ngai uproots dozens of years old trees to make bank gates

On July 1, people in Quang Ngai City (Quang Ngai Province) were in an uproar when authorities started cutting branches and uprooting a series of peacock trees in the area of ​​194 Tran Hung Dao Street, in front of the headquarters of the Agricultural Bank of Quang Ngai (Agribank).

Many urban trees in front of the headquarters of Agribank Quang Ngai had their branches cut off.

In the hot sun, many people were surprised to see trees with diameters of 20-40cm being pruned, some trees being dug up even though the trees were planted neatly on the sidewalk...

Speaking with Giao Thong Newspaper, the leader of the Urban Management Department of Quang Ngai City said that they had advised the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City to grant a license to the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Quang Ngai branch, to dig up three trees located in front of this bank.

Specifically, in license No. 23 signed by Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai City People's Committee Nguyen Lam, it is clearly stated: Agribank Quang Ngai is allowed to relocate three urban trees on the sidewalk south of Tran Hung Dao Street (in front of the headquarters of the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Quang Ngai branch) to construct the entrance to the bank headquarters project, including 2 trees with a diameter of 30-40cm, 8-10m high at the main entrance and 1 tree with a diameter of 20-30cm, 8m high at the side entrance.

On the morning of July 1, workers dug up the roots, but after Giao Thong Newspaper reported it, they quickly filled it back up and left.

Previously, Director of Agribank Quang Ngai branch Huynh Tan Luc submitted a request to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai city for permission to cut down and move urban trees located on the front of Tran Hung Dao street to make a gate to the headquarters.

Speaking with Giao Thong Newspaper, the leader of Quang Ngai City People's Committee said that they will re-examine and have specific feedback.
