Quang Ngai allocates 49 billion VND to implement the Project to overcome riverbank erosion
People in many localities in Quang Ngai have reported riverbank erosion and asked the province to find solutions, especially when the rainy and stormy season comes.
Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee said that currently, the Provincial People's Committee has allocated 49 billion VND to implement the Project to overcome riverbank erosion at locations where erosion is directly threatening residential areas along the Tra Bong River in the two communes of Binh Minh and Binh Chuong.
For other locations (not directly affecting residential areas), the Provincial People's Committee requests the Binh Son District People's Committee to continue monitoring and handling in accordance with the provisions of Article 6, Regulations on handling riverbank and coastal erosion issued by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 01/QD-TTg dated January 4, 2011.
Recently, people in Mo Duc and Tu Ngai districts have also reported the erosion on the Ve River and the southern bank of the Tra Khuc River. Or people in Binh Duong commune, Binh Son district requested the province to allocate the remaining embankment to prevent erosion from Ba Dau bridge to Kieng wharf in My Hue 3 village (about 100m), because this section has people's houses close to the riverbank, which is very dangerous when the rainy and stormy season comes.
Responding to this reflection, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province said that the project to build a dike to prevent landslides on the Tra Binh river bank, through Binh Duong commune; the project to build a dike to prevent landslides on the southern bank of the Ve river through Mo Duc district and the project to build a dike to prevent landslides on the southern bank of the Tra Khuc river, through Tu Nghia district are included in the approved provincial planning.
Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee requested Binh Son, Mo Duc and Tu Nghia districts to organize inspections and evaluate the current situation, and consider plans to invest in projects using public investment capital or other legal capital sources under local management.
"In case of exceeding the capital balance capacity, it is proposed that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinate with departments, branches, agencies and functional units to study and propose to competent authorities for consideration and resolution," Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee requested.
In the immediate future, to promptly limit the landslide situation, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province requests the People's Committees of Binh Son, Mo Duc and Tu Nghia districts to monitor and handle in accordance with the provisions of Article 6, Regulations on handling riverbank and coastal landslides issued by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 01/QD-TTg dated January 4, 2011, in which attention should be paid to measures such as notification, posting warning signs, zoning to prevent people and vehicles from entering the landslide area, monitoring the landslide developments, and directing initial handling to limit landslides.
