Quang Nam cooperates with Da Nang University to train human resources

Quang Nam students favor Da Nang University

Dr. Tran Dinh Khoi Quoc - Head of Training and Quality Assurance Department of Danang University (UD) said that Quang Nam students are quite fond of UD, so the number of students studying there is quite large.

According to statistics, every year, more than 20% of the candidates admitted to the University of Danang are students from Quang Nam, most of them are from the University of Technology and the University of Economics.

As for the 2024 university entrance exam, the percentage of Quang Nam students admitted was nearly 21% (3,518 students admitted), only behind Da Nang City (28%), far surpassing the following localities with a gap of up to 20% (Thua Thien Hue 8%, Quang Ngai, Nghe An 6%...).

The universities most chosen by Quang Nam students to study are the University of Economics (874 students were admitted), the University of Technology (860 students), the University of Education, the University of Technical Education, and the Vietnam - Korea University of Information Technology and Communications with nearly 500 students/school.

Another noteworthy statistic in university admissions in 2024 is that there are 10 high schools in Quang Nam with at least 100 students admitted to the University of Danang; the most are Nguyen Duy Hieu High School (Dien Ban) 163, Luong The Vinh (Dien Ban) 140, Hoang Dieu (Dien Ban) 133, Phan Boi Chau (Tam Ky) 128, Huynh Ngoc Hue (Dai Loc) 121, Tran Quy Cap (Hoi An) 120...

It is not surprising that many Quang Nam students prefer to study at member schools of the University of Danang because of the proximity to home, more reasonable tuition and living expenses compared to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and even Hue.

In particular, UD is one of the three regional universities in the country, providing multi-disciplinary and multi-field training with 6 member universities, one affiliated university and many other training units; with a training scale of 65,000 full-time students with 136 undergraduate training majors, 48 ​​master's training majors and 30 doctoral training majors. The training brand of many member universities of UD has also been affirmed with the tradition of 50 years of establishment.

Strengthening cooperation in human resource training

In mid-March, a working session took place between the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam and the University of Danang. According to Mr. Thai Viet Tuong - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam, this was the first time that high schools in the province had a meeting and exchange with the leaders of the University of Danang and its member universities with the goal of taking care of the career of cultivating people and training high-quality human resources. This helps high school leaders have more information in orienting and advising students to choose suitable training majors.

Mr. Tuong added that many Quang Nam students have been studying at member universities of the University of Danang; according to statistics, on average, out of 10,000 Quang Nam students entering university each year, about 4,000 students enter the University of Danang. In recent times, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam and the University of Danang have also cooperated quite effectively in training and fostering a team of managers and teachers; coordinating the organization of science and technology competitions, etc.

The leaders of the University of Danang said that in 2025, 25 new training majors will be recruited, including some majors that meet urgent needs for national development, attracting learners with high employment opportunities such as metro railway construction, data analysis, international finance, etc. In particular, there are semiconductor microchip majors (all 3 member universities in the field of engineering - technology of the University of Danang have opened majors, recruited and trained) and artificial intelligence.

Regarding support policies for Quang Nam, Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Cong Phap - Principal of Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communication Technology said that the school's training scale is 7,000 students, of which Quang Nam students are the most numerous with nearly 1,700.

Every year, the school has a scholarship program for students from each high school in Quang Nam (1 scholarship for students with special difficulties and 1 scholarship recommended by the high school principal); supporting high schools in digital transformation and participating in the Central Highlands - Central region Informatics Olympiad.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - Director of UD, after more than 30 years of development and 50 years of its member schools, UD has met the demand for human resource training for the Central Highlands and the whole country.

The meeting between UD and the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam is very meaningful, hopefully opening a new phase of cooperation and development in human resource training. UD is one of three regional universities in the country, with 6 member universities with nearly 2,600 staff, including 124 professors, associate professors, nearly 800 PhDs, planned to become a national university.
