On the afternoon of October 23, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province held an online meeting on the implementation of response to storm Trami. To respond to this storm, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Quang Nam province has established two plans to evacuate people when the storm makes direct landfall in the locality.

Accordingly, in the strong storm scenario, this province will have 212,000 people and 396,000 people in the case of a super storm, living in mixed solid houses or evacuating to offices and schools.

Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, said that in the past 3 years, Quang Nam province has not had any major storms, so people are certainly complacent. Therefore, it is necessary to actively help people understand storm prevention to reduce damage when storms make landfall.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Le Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, requested that local units must have permanent leaders on duty 24/7 to direct storm prevention and control, and strengthen inspection of the "4 on-site" equipment force. Ensure smooth communication from the province to the district, from the district to the commune to promptly grasp information from the local level. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will review the situation to organize a sea ban to ensure safety.

According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 p.m. on October 23, storm Trami (Tra Mi in Vietnamese) was centered at approximately 16.2 degrees North latitude; 123.6 degrees East longitude, in the sea east of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the storm center was level 9 (75-88 km/h), gusting to level 11. Moving in the West Northwest direction, at a speed of 15-20 km/h.

From the next 72 to 120 hours, the storm will move mainly in a westerly direction, about 15km per hour, then it will likely change direction to the South-Southwest and move more slowly.
