Previously, on May 8th, the advertisement for the launch of the 2024 iPad Pro, titled "Crush," had over 1,000,000 views on YouTube and was personally shared by Apple CEO Tim Cook.

The commercial titled "Crush" has received over 1.4 million views on YouTube. Photo: Apple.

This commercial was created with the idea of showing how the latest iPad can replace everything from musical instruments, paint, camera lenses, books, movie characters, sculptures, and many other creative items.

However, this message angered artists and creators because it contained many scenes of art tools being crushed by a hydraulic press.

Many viewers criticized the video as insensitive, arguing that Apple was demonstrating that technology was stifling human creativity. This is a very sensitive issue in the context of the creative industry being threatened by AI (artificial intelligence).

Apple's commercial has angered viewers.

The advertisement, which downplayed other products to highlight the value of the iPad Pro, became offensive. Many social media users criticized the ad, prompting Apple to issue an immediate apology.

Apple's vice president of marketing, Myhren, told Ad Age, "Our goal is to always celebrate the countless ways users express themselves and bring their ideas to life through the iPad. We didn't quite capture that in this video and we sincerely apologize."

Apple has decided to stop advertising on social media and also stop running ads on television. However, Tim Cook has not yet deleted the clip from his social media account X.

In addition to issuing a public apology, Apple also announced it would withdraw its plans to air "Crush" on television.

Some critics argue that the negative viewer reaction to the advertisement is a sign that many people have begun to grow tired of Apple. Apple is a major advertiser with a long history of close ties to long-standing advertising agencies.

This isn't the first iPad advertisement from Apple in recent years that has offended some customers. In 2018, some people reported feeling uncomfortable with a scene where a child asks the iPad Pro, "What is a computer?".
