Promoting destinations and medical tourism of Ho Chi Minh City to Cambodian visitors

On June 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, along with 20 travel agencies, public and private hospitals, medical and healthcare facilities, held a program to promote Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City tourism in Phnom Penh (Cambodia).

This is an opportunity for businesses from all sides to meet, connect directly and seek cooperation opportunities to increase the number of two-way tourists between Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodia, especially to promote, connect and introduce medical tourism product packages that are the city's strengths such as: dentistry, spa, general health check-up; health check-up to screen for diseases and perform specialized techniques; traditional medicine.

Angkor Wat is the most famous destination in Cambodia, attracting many international tourists.

During the program, the organizers introduced new tourism products of Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City, especially medical tourism products; directly introduced products and services of tourism businesses, hospitals, medical facilities, and health care in Vietnam.

Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, shared that the city is one of the localities with a convenient geographical location and transportation with neighboring Cambodia, along with a visa exemption policy for members of the ASEAN bloc.

The Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism introduced the strengths of the city's public and private healthcare system, with safe, convenient, and reasonably priced medical tourism services and products.

Ho Chi Minh City is promoting medical tourism.

Mr. Ngo Van Tuat, Counselor, Embassy of Vietnam in Cambodia, commented that after the program, many cooperation opportunities will be opened for tourism businesses of both sides, thereby promoting the growth of two-way tourist flows between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Also in the program, Mr. Prak Chandara, Deputy Secretary of State of the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia, hoped that through tourism, the long-standing relationship, good cooperation and solidarity between the two countries, especially the solidarity and close cooperation of the twin cities "Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City" will be increasingly consolidated and deepened.

Cambodia is a traditional tourist market of Vietnam and in 2022, Vietnam welcomed 140,461 tourists from Cambodia through international border gates by land, sea and air; of which Cambodian tourists to Ho Chi Minh City reached 8,973.

In the first 5 months of 2023, Vietnam also welcomed more than 167 thousand Cambodian tourists, accounting for 3.63% of total international visitors to Vietnam.
