The 2023 Military Region 9 Football and Volleyball Tournament is organized into 2 phases: Phase 1 is the group stage from July 3 to July 9, 2023, with the participation of 26/31 agencies and units; 972 athletes from 26 football teams and 26 volleyball teams participated in the competition. At the end of the group stage, 8 football teams and 8 volleyball teams ranked first in 8 groups were selected to participate in the final round.

Major General Ho Van Thai, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Military Region 9, presented certificates of merit to units serving the sports festival.

Colonel Chiem Thong Nhat, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Military Region 9, presented flags to the athletes.
Major General Nguyen Van Tien, Deputy Commander of Military Region 9, presented the cup and flag to the winning football team.

Phase 2 will compete in the final round from August 21 to August 29, 2023, with the participation of 8 football teams and 8 volleyball teams.

Competition results: In football, Can Tho City Military Command won first prize; second prize went to the General Staff of Military Region 9; and third prize went to Kien Giang Provincial Military Command and Bac Lieu Provincial Military Command.

In volleyball: First prize went to the General Staff of Military Region 9; Second prize went to the Military Command of Kien Giang province; and third prize went to Division 330 and Brigade 29. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded prizes to the player who scored the most goals in the football tournament and the best attacker in the volleyball tournament.

Speaking at the conclusion of the tournament, Colonel Vo Van Hung, Head of the School's Military Training Department, General Staff of Military Region 9, said: "To successfully organize the tournament, the Organizing Committee and the supporting subcommittees performed their professional functions, and at the same time clearly assigned responsibilities to each member to monitor, direct, and guide agencies and units to implement according to the plan. The athletes competed actively and enthusiastically with the determination to win for the flag and colors of their agencies and units. The matches took place fiercely with a noble sportsmanship spirit, creating a vibrant atmosphere."

The football and volleyball tournament of Military Region 9 is a meaningful activity, aiming to improve the training quality and combat readiness of the armed forces of Military Region 9 in the new situation; create a vibrant competitive atmosphere, contribute to building a healthy cultural environment, building a strong and comprehensive unit, and successfully completing the political tasks of each agency and unit.
