Hoan Kiem District: Visiting and giving gifts to disabled people in difficult circumstances

On the occasion of Vietnam Day for People with Disabilities on April 18, working delegations of Hoan Kiem district visited and presented gifts to people with disabilities in difficult circumstances in the area.

Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Hoan Kiem District, Vu Dang Dinh, visited and presented gifts to Mr. Nguyen The Chien and listened to the Chairman of the District Association for the Blind introduce phone applications to support the visually impaired in Hang Bong Ward.

Mr. Nguyen The Chien (born in 1972) is a typical member of the Association of the Blind in Hoan Kiem District, who studied at Hanoi University. After suffering from retinal degeneration leading to visual impairment, he did not surrender to fate, actively participated in activities at the Association of the Disabled in the district, learned how to use technology to expand his knowledge and operate his family's leather goods business.

The delegation also visited Mr. Tran Van Thuy (born in 1984), a disabled person living on Quan Su Street, Tran Hung Dao Ward. Mr. Thuy is currently being cared for by his older sister. The encouragement from the government has helped him ease his difficulties.

On this occasion, Standing Deputy Secretary of Hoan Kiem District Party Committee Nguyen Quoc Khanh also visited, encouraged and gave gifts to Ms. Tran Thu Lan (born in 1979) in Chuong Duong ward and Mr. Hoang Trung Nghia (born in 1998) in Dong Xuan ward.

Despite their disabilities, people with disabilities still constantly strive to overcome difficulties, becoming shining examples of resilience and aspiration for a positive life.

The working delegation led by Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District Pham Tuan Long visited and presented gifts to the family of Mr. Cao Ngoc Chu (born in 1942), currently living in Phuc Tan Ward, and Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet Nga (born in 1955), living in Hang Dao Ward.

Mr. Cao Ngoc Chu is the former Chairman of the Association for the Blind in Hoan Kiem District. With more than 50 years of dedication and contribution to the movement of the visually impaired, Mr. Cao Ngoc Chu has campaigned to establish the 202 Ho Guom Cooperative - a unit under the association, specializing in the production of electrical transformers and brooms, creating jobs for hundreds of disabled people in Hoan Kiem District and neighboring localities.

Leaders of Hoan Kiem district encouraged people with disabilities to strive to overcome difficulties, gradually improve their lives and make positive contributions to the community. District leaders also requested local authorities at all levels to continue to pay attention and develop humanitarian and charitable programs, thereby promptly supporting people with disabilities and their families to overcome difficulties.
