Hanoi Old Quarter, or “36 streets” has always been closely associated with the formation and development of Thang Long - Hanoi. This place contains a treasure trove of diverse and attractive tangible and intangible cultural heritage values, contributing to the mark of the thousand-year-old Thang Long capital.

Crafts in Hanoi are also very diverse and rich, with many traditional crafts that have existed for a long time, such as: paper making, pottery making, goldsmithing, wood carving, weaving, embroidery, mother-of-pearl inlaying... Among them, we can mention mother-of-pearl inlaying, which has been present in the old quarter for quite a long time. The inlaying craft in Thang Long was brought by the people of Chuyen My commune (Phu Xuyen district).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee Pham Tuan Long said that 2025 is also the 10th anniversary of the Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center. After being put into operation, the project has become a place to organize cultural activities, promoting the heritage of Hanoi as well as Hoan Kiem District.

Expressing his honor to cooperate with Phu Xuyen district, artisans and visit traditional craft villages, the Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee said that at today's event, in addition to the completed traditional handicraft products, people and tourists can witness the elaborate manufacturing process to create traditional handicraft products from raw materials to completion.

With the spirit of creativity and innovation in using raw materials based on traditional raw materials, Mr. Pham Tuan Long believes that the sophisticated products displayed at the event will be of very high quality, capable of satisfying the interests of the people and tourists.
Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee Pham Tuan Long also believes and hopes that in the coming time, he will continue to receive attention from experts and scientists in the field of preserving intangible cultural heritages, thereby helping the capital city of Hanoi and Hoan Kiem District preserve, conserve and promote the cultural quintessence that Hanoi possesses.
On this occasion, Hoan Kiem district will organize many activities to introduce traditional crafts, including: Exhibition to introduce Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay craft and organize mother-of-pearl inlay experience workshops at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center 50 Dao Duy Tu; Exhibition of rattan and bamboo weaving with the theme "Made of Tre" and art installations about Hang Bac craft street at Kim Ngan communal house 42 Hang Bac; Exhibition to introduce and exchange culture - tourism between Hanoi and Phu Yen with the theme Tuyet Diem Salt Village at the Hanoi Old Quarter Heritage Information Center - 28 Hang Buom...
