More than 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 23, 1973), the Vietnam-Japan friendly and cooperative relationship has continuously developed strongly, extensively and effectively in all fields.
On the evening of November 19, in Tokyo, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024).
Attending the ceremony were more than 500 guests representing the Japanese government, ministries and sectors; representatives of diplomatic corps from various countries and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu chaired the event. Attending the ceremony on the Japanese side were Chairman of the Komeito Party, Saito Tetsuo; Minister of Justice Suzuki Keisuke; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Miyaji Takuma, and Secretary General of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Association Tsuruho Yosuke.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu recalled the important historical milestone when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on September 2, 1945.
The Ambassador emphasized that over the past 79 years, the Party, State and people of Vietnam have tirelessly fought to protect independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, the nation's right to self-determination, freedom and happiness for the people; actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
During the 79-year journey with many hardships but also full of glory, the Party, State and people of Vietnam have united in the struggle to protect independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity as well as to build and develop the country, freedom and happiness for the people. From a backward economy, Vietnam has risen to become one of the most dynamically developing economies in the region, Top 40 leading economies, Top 20 countries with the largest trade scale in the world.
The Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam is entering a new era, an era of the Vietnamese people's rise. With a sustainable economic growth rate, a young and energetic population and a spirit of constant creativity, the aspiration to successfully build a socialist Vietnam, a rich people, a strong country, a democratic, fair and civilized society is gradually becoming a reality. In this journey, Vietnam always receives the companionship and support of international friends, in which Japan plays a very important role.
Referring to the Vietnam-Japan relationship, the Ambassador stated that over 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 23, 1973), the Vietnam-Japan friendly and cooperative relationship has continuously developed strongly, extensively, and effectively in all fields. Local cooperation and people-to-people exchange continue to be bright spots in the relationship between the two countries. Vietnamese community
in Japan reached nearly 600,000 people, actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the two countries and being a solid foundation for the relationship between the two peoples. The people of the two countries always share and help each other in difficult times, especially after the recent major earthquake on the Noto peninsula.
The Ambassador expressed his hope that in the coming time, Vietnam will continue to receive effective cooperation and support from Japanese and international friends.
The Ambassador expressed his belief in the bright future of the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries. With the consensus and agreement of the leaders and people of the two countries, the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will certainly enter a new stage of development, meeting the aspirations of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world./.
