Dong Da District meets and exchanges with historical witnesses

At the meeting, delegates watched a historical documentary about the general offensive to liberate the South and unify the country, recalling the heroic memories of the nation.

Representatives of historical witnesses who directly participated in the campaigns that created the Great Victory of Spring 1975 shared at the exchange "Continuing the epic of victory".

Sharing at the exchange, Major General Nguyen Van Dac, former Political Commissar of Regiment 64 (Division 320) said: Division 320 made an important contribution to the victory in the Central Highlands Campaign, liberating Buon Ma Thuot town. Next, Division 320 marched and pursued the enemy on Highway 7 (now Highway 25), scattering the enemy and together with the army and people of Phu Yen liberated Tuy Hoa town and the entire Phu Yen province on April 1, 1975.

Directly participating in the Hue - Da Nang Campaign, one of the three important campaigns, Chairman of the Dong Da District Veterans Association Dinh Minh Gioi said that as an infantryman, Division 2, Military Region 5, we started by attacking Tien Phuoc, we had to destroy Hill 211, the enemy's stronghold. The enemy resisted fiercely, enemy artillery fired continuously, our soldiers were wounded, many were sacrificed, but we were not discouraged. After a day of fighting, we completely controlled the district town of Tien Phuoc - Phuoc Lam. This victory contributed to creating the premise for the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign to win completely.

Former gunner Ngo Sy Nguyen, who was in tank number 390, which crashed into the gate of the Independence Palace, shared the most important moment, when the tank entered, crashed into the gate of the Independence Palace, and witnessed the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam fluttering on the roof of the Independence Palace. For tank 390 to reach the gate of the Independence Palace was a long journey with the blood of many compatriots and comrades.

Historical witnesses all hope that today's young generation needs to preserve and develop the country in a way that is worthy of the sacrifices of those who fell to regain the Fatherland and regain independence and freedom for the nation.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of Dong Da District Party Committee Dinh Truong Tho affirmed: Dong Da District has achieved the development achievements it has today, thanks to the support, encouragement and important contributions of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, generals, senior officers, veterans, former youth volunteers, and former People's Police.

“The Party Committee, government and people of Dong Da district are always proud and grateful for their contributions and dedication to the peace, independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the peace of the people, as well as their support for Dong Da district in the past time,” emphasized the Secretary of the Dong Da District Party Committee.

Through the meeting, the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Da district continued to promote the tradition of fighting against foreign invaders, the tradition of patriotism, revolutionary heroism, the will to fight and win; encourage and motivate cadres, party members and people of all walks of life to strive to complete the proposed socio-economic development, national defense and security plans.
