“Today, there is North Gaza and South Gaza,” Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari told reporters on November 5, calling it a “crucial phase” in Israel’s fight against Hamas.

Israeli media reported that the army is expected to enter Gaza City within 48 hours. Powerful explosions were seen in northern Gaza after nightfall.
But communications have been cut off again across Gaza, a problem confirmed by Palestinian telecommunications company Paltel, further complicating the task of communicating details about the new phase of Israel's military offensive.
This is also the third time communications have been cut in Gaza since Israel launched its ground offensive more than a week ago. The first communication blackout in Gaza lasted 36 hours and the second lasted several hours.
“We have lost contact with the vast majority of the UNRWA team,” said Juliette Touma, a spokeswoman for the UN Palestinian refugee agency.
Earlier on November 5, Israeli warplanes attacked two refugee camps in central Gaza, killing at least 53 people and injuring dozens.
Israel says it will continue to attack Hamas, despite US calls for even a brief pause to provide aid to civilians.
The Palestinian Health Ministry says more than 9,700 Palestinians have been killed in the territory since nearly a month of fighting, including more than 4,000 children. That number is likely to rise as Israeli troops advance into densely populated urban areas. More than 300,000 people are still estimated to remain in northern Gaza.
Air strikes hit the Maghazi refugee camp overnight, killing at least 40 people and wounding 34 others, the health ministry said.
Another airstrike hit a house near a school in the Bureji refugee camp in central Gaza. Al-Aqsa hospital staff said at least 13 people were killed. The camp was also hit on November 2.
