50 years ago, on March 26, 1975, the 3rd Army Corps - the Central Highlands Army Corps was established on the basis of the main force of the Central Highlands Front. Although it was established in the final years of the resistance war against the US to save the country, the units that made up the Corps all had a history and tradition from the resistance war against the French and especially the 11 years of fighting the US imperialists on the Central Highlands battlefield.

After only 10 days of establishment, the Corps was honored to receive the mission of participating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, undertaking the attack in the most important direction - Northwest of Saigon. At exactly 10:35 a.m. on April 30, 1975, the flag of the 10th Division flew on the roof of the puppet air force headquarters at Tan Son Nhat Airport. At 11:30 a.m., the victory flag raised by the flag team of Company 10, Battalion 3, Regiment 28, Division 10 flew on the roof of the puppet General Staff. At the end of the Campaign, the Corps was evaluated by the Campaign Command as "Excellently completing the mission".

After the complete liberation of the South, the Corps was assigned the task of taking over, participating in government building, stabilizing people's lives; hunting down Fulro, carrying out international missions and building and protecting the Fatherland in the new revolutionary period.

With their efforts, intelligence, sweat and blood, generations of cadres and soldiers have built and embellished the 12 golden words of glorious tradition "Determination to win, Creativity, Solidarity, Unity, Seriousness, Self-reliance"; the Corps was honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State, 3 Ho Chi Minh Medals and many other noble awards.

“Reviewing the past 50 years, the more proud we are of our glorious past, the more clearly we see our great responsibility. The officers and soldiers of the 34th Corps today always cherish and preserve the heroic images of a main Corps born from the fierce Central Highlands battlefield; constantly studying, cultivating, training steadfast political will, high determination, striving, overcoming all difficulties, building a lean, strong Corps, successfully completing all assigned tasks”, Major General Nguyen Ba Luc emphasized.

Synchronously implement solutions to build a lean, strong and refined Corps, associated with innovation and breakthroughs to improve the quality of combat readiness, training, education and the quality of logistics and technical support for missions, ensuring that the Corps is truly the main, strategically mobile unit of the Vietnam People's Army, well meeting the requirements and tasks of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
