Coach Van Thi Thanh analyzes opponent Philippines
On the afternoon of October 2, a press conference was held ahead of the Hanoi Cup T&T Group 2024 international women's football tournament. The tournament will take place from October 3 to 7 at Hang Day Stadium, with the participation of 4 women's teams: Hanoi, Thai Nguyen T&T, Beijing (China) and Manila Digger (Philippines).
This is a special playground for two female coaches of Vietnamese teams, when Coach Van Thi Thanh (Thai Nguyen T&T) and Dao Thi Mien (Hanoi) both made their debuts with their new teams. Vietnam Golden Ball Coach Van Thi Thanh joined the Thai Nguyen T&T women's team at the end of September, replacing Coach Doan Viet Trieu, with the goal of helping the tea team continue to maintain its position in the top 3.

In the international friendly tournament, Thai Nguyen T&T Club will face Beijing at 3:30 p.m., Hanoi at 6 p.m. and Manila Digger at 3:30 p.m.
Coach Van Thi Thanh shared: "I think we need more tournaments like this for players to gain experience, in addition to cultural exchange between football backgrounds. We know the playing style of Hanoi Club, but I don't know much about opponents from the Philippines or China.
I only have some information, such as the Manila Digger team has many faces from the US and Canada. These are players who will contribute to increasing the quality of the tournament. The goal of the Thai Nguyen T&T team is to compete and prepare for the National Cup at the end of this year. Hopefully the players will accumulate experience to prepare for the important tournament," coach Van Thi Thanh shared.

Taking on the task of coaching the Hanoi women’s team in an important tournament, Coach Dao Thi Mien affirmed that this is the transition period between the team’s older and younger players. Many young talents will be given the opportunity to compete, even though the Hanoi women’s team will have to face tough opponents.
"We only know Thai Nguyen well because we have met many times, but we don't have much information about foreign opponents. Our goal is to exchange, learn and accumulate experience for young players.
I think Hanoi FC is in a transitional period between the older generation and the younger generation. In this tournament, many young players will be on the field to prepare for the next tournaments. We will try to achieve the best results possible within our capacity," Coach Dao Thi Mien affirmed.
Bich Thuy: Ready to face the Philippines Club
The two Vietnamese representatives will compete with Manila Digger Club of the Philippines. Over the past 4 years, Philippine women's football has progressed very quickly, reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 Asian Cup, winning a ticket to the 2023 World Cup and also winning the first match on the world stage (defeating host New Zealand with a score of 1-0). In the last 3 matches against the Philippines, the Vietnamese women's team with Tran Thi Kim Thanh and Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy lost 2 matches, scored 2 goals and conceded 6 times.
Meeting a Philippine female representative in a friendly tournament is a special experience for national team players such as Bich Thuy, Kim Thanh, Tran Thi Thu, Hai Yen, Thanh Nha, Hai Linh. In an interview with Thanh Nien Newspaper, Vietnam Bronze Ball Bich Thuy said that the whole team will try their best to prove themselves.

"I cannot yet assess in detail the strength of the Manila Digger team on the Philippine side. However, I understand that Philippine women's football has developed very quickly in recent years. They have many quality naturalized players.
After the clashes with the Philippine women's team, I don't feel too shy. But facing the Philippine club, I will probably be a little more cautious. In the Thai Nguyen T&T women's team, there are players who have never played internationally, or faced foreign players. I rate the Manila Digger team very highly. Although I don't know their true strength, just looking at their physique, I know that this is an opponent I have to be careful with.
In this tournament, the Thai Nguyen T&T women's team has a new coach and has changed their playing style quite a bit. My team and I will try to follow the coach's tactics and be ready to bring a good match to the fans," Bich Thuy emphasized.

Assistant Joel Villarino of Manila Digger (Philippines) affirmed: "This is our first time participating in an international tournament, so we will try our best in each match with the highest determination."

Meanwhile, coach Yu Yun of Beijing Club emphasized: "I am very happy to come to Hanoi to participate in the international friendly tournament. Beijing Club just completed the domestic tournament last month. We have 80% of the optimal squad for the next 3 matches in Hanoi. I know Thai Nguyen T&T, Hanoi and Manila Digger are all strong teams. In this playground, I hope to interact with the teams to perform better in the future."
Both coming from football backgrounds that have just participated in the 2023 World Cup, Manila Digger and Beijing teams will bring a big challenge to Hanoi and Thai Nguyen T&T.
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with T&T Group, Hanoi Football Federation and related units organized the Hanoi Cup T&T Group International Women's Football Tournament 2024 (T&T Cup International Women's Football Hanoi 2024).
