PTSC Marine Mechanical Services Company Limited (PTSC M&C), one of the key units of Vietnam Oil and Gas Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) as well as Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) in the field of providing high-quality oil and gas technical services, has officially signed the EPCIC General Contract with Murphy Oil Company Cuu Long Bac (MCB) for the Lac Da Vang oil field development project in the offshore waters of Vietnam. MCB is a subsidiary of Murphy Oil Corporation (Murphy), a leading oil and gas exploration and production company in the United States.
The EPCIC Contract Signing Ceremony for the LDV-A Project was held in Ho Chi Minh City on May 31, 2024.
Lac Da Vang (LDV) field is located in Block 15-1/05 in the Cuu Long basin on the southeastern continental shelf of Vietnam, approximately 120 km east of Vung Tau City. MCB holds a 40% operating stake and is the operator of Block 15-1/05, together with its partners, PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) holding 35% and SK Earthon Company Limited owning 25%.
The first development phase of the Lac Da Vang Project (Phase 1A) includes a central processing platform (LDV-A), capable of processing crude oil to meet export standards, then transferring it to a tanker oil tanker (FSO) for storage via an infield pipeline system. Notably, the LDV-A Central Processing Platform is the first development project of the Lac Da Vang field as well as of MCB in the Vietnamese market after a long preparation period.
The EPCIC Contract between MCB and PTSC M&C includes detailed engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, connection and commissioning for the LDV-A Central Processing Platform, with a topside weighing over 6,000 tonnes and a foundation and piles weighing over 5,000 tonnes. The LDV-A Central Processing Platform is expected to be commissioned in the second half of 2026, with most of the work to be performed at PTSC M&C’s site in Vung Tau City, Vietnam.
The EPCIC Contract for the LDV-A project continues to affirm PTSC M&C's leading position in the field of general contracting services for offshore oil and gas projects in Vietnam. Along with pioneering steps in participating in substation projects for offshore wind power projects in foreign markets, PTSC M&C has increasingly built a prestigious and strong brand and is one of the preferred partners by domestic and foreign customers. The LDV-A project also marks an important milestone for PTSC M&C as this is the first Central Processing Platform that PTSC M&C will design by Vietnamese engineers.
Mr. Tran Thien Le, Deputy Director of PTSC M&C, expressed his enthusiasm at the contract signing ceremony: “We are very pleased to accompany Murphy in the Lac Da Vang project. This project is a testament to our determination in providing optimal solutions in terms of progress, competitiveness and service quality. We expect to make every effort to fulfill our commitments to Murphy customers.”
Mr. Jason Ritchie, General Director of Lac Da Vang Project Development, said at the contract signing ceremony: “Murphy is pleased to celebrate this important milestone of Lac Da Vang Project, our first development project in Vietnam. We are excited to engage in the next stages of the project with PTSC M&C and hope to continue to develop many more projects in Vietnam for the benefit of all parties. The Murphy team looks forward to continuing our partnership with PTSC M&C to safely and efficiently execute this important project."
