Podcasts are a very popular trend and an opportunity to raise the profile of radio stations.

(CLO) On November 9 and 10, in Da Nang city, VOV Central region coordinated with the Center for Training and Fostering of Media Profession under the Center for Research and Application of Media Technology, Voice of Vietnam to open a training course on Podcast program production skills for reporters and editors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Podcast production skills training course, Mr. Pham Manh Hung, Deputy General Director and Chairman of the VOV Journalists Association, affirmed that Podcast has become a global trend. Podcast is a type of digital audio or video content that users can download from the Internet to their devices to listen to. Podcast products help listeners proactively, without time and duration limitations, as long as the story is good. This is a huge advantage that digital platforms and the digital era bring.

According to Mr. Pham Manh Hung, Podcast is a very popular trend and an opportunity to enhance the position of radio stations. With the rapid development of technology, the number of listeners to audio content globally, including the Vietnamese market, is increasing, but the needs of listeners are also changing from passive to active.

“Podcasts have become a global trend, not just in Vietnam. This is a huge advantage that digital platforms and the digital era bring to content producers with radio roots. The explosion of information access devices such as smartphones is a favorable condition for the public and we can reach out to the public to distribute our Podcast products on their phones,” said VOV Deputy General Director Pham Manh Hung.

In this training class, students are introduced and shared experiences about Podcast making skills; basic to advanced content creation skills for a Podcast channel to attract listeners and readers in the digital age on a multimedia journalism platform. Students are also guided on how to create a podcast program that is different from a regular radio program; the software, applications, and tools needed to deploy and implement a podcast.

The training course on Podcast production skills was organized to concretize the orientation of the VOV General Director in the digital transformation process associated with Podcast production, innovation in content and presentation of programs.

Through the training course, reporters, editors, and technicians will grasp Podcast production skills, contributing to improving the quality of communication according to modern journalism trends and digital transformation of journalism.
