PlayStation will not be attending Gamescom 2023.

According to VGC , Sony Interactive Entertainment is reportedly planning not to attend Gamescom 2023.

In recent years, Japanese game companies have often chosen to introduce their games through their own online events, rather than holding physical conferences or events with many other companies in the industry. This is believed to help the company reduce a significant amount of costs.

PlayStation will not be present at Gamescom 2023.

Sony's last appearance at Gamescom was in 2019, which was also the last live Gamescom event before the Covid-19 pandemic. The company has now informed Germany's GamesMarkt that it has no plans to participate in Gamescom this summer.

The Gamescom opening ceremony will return on August 22nd, with the main event taking place from August 23rd to 27th. According to organizers Koelnmesse and the German Game Industry Association, as of mid-March, the number of companies registered for Gamescom 2023 was 10% higher than in 2022.

In April, Nintendo was announced as the first major game publisher to attend Gamescom 2023. The company that makes the Switch had also previously attended Gamescom 2019.
