Shen Shijun comes from a well-off family. Therefore, he received a good education from his family. Shen Shijun's older brother, Shen Dimou, entered Oxford University (UK) at the age of 14 and was the one with the highest score in Mathematics.

Influenced by her brother and parents, Tham Thi Quan loved to study, early showed talent for calculation, and had high average scores in all subjects.
The "leap frog" journey
At the age of 6, Tham Thi Quan started first grade and completed primary school in a short time. On the first day, he read all the Chinese books, on the second day he finished math, and on the third day he studied the remaining subjects.
After that, Tham Thi Quan was guided by his father to study and complete the secondary school program on his own. One year later, in the interview, he demonstrated his outstanding knowledge of Mathematics and was specially admitted to grade 12 by the school.
Tham Thi Quan became famous at the age of 9 when he passed the A-level exam in the UK (the internationally recognized Higher Certificate of Education). With perfect scores in both Mathematics and Advanced Mathematics, he was admitted directly to the Mathematics Department of Hong Kong Baptist University.
At that time, many people called Tham Thi Quan a "child prodigy".
At that time, many people called Tham Thi Quan a "prodigy". However, he said: " I am not a prodigy. People calling me a prodigy is like denying my efforts."
To recruit talent, Hong Kong Baptist University has built a teaching system for excellent students like Tham Thi Quan, with a 3-year undergraduate training period and a 2-year master's program. Tham Thi Quan only took 4 years to complete the program.
Became a doctor at 18, and an associate professor at 23.
Shen Shijun continued his doctoral studies at Texas A&M University in Texas, USA. In 2016, at the age of 18, he became a doctor. After that, Shen Shijun joined the teaching staff at the University of California as an assistant professor.
At first, many students were skeptical about Tham Thi Quan's abilities. But then, everyone was overwhelmed by his knowledge of mathematics. At the age of 23, Tham Thi Quan became an associate professor. He is currently a lecturer at a famous university in the US.
Tham Thi Quan's story inspires young people today.
Tham Thi Quan's story inspires young people today. However, many people are still worried that he did not have a complete and proper childhood because of the pressure of studying. However, Tham Thi Quan affirmed: "I do not regret my decision. If I had a second chance to choose, I would still want to follow this path."
The man behind the success of the math prodigy
Tham Thi Quan's success was due to his father's educational methods. In fact, he had no natural talent, and was naughty and hyperactive like many other children.
With the view that "there is no rotten wood that cannot be carved" of Mr. Tham Chan Hung, Tham Thi Quan has transformed from a playful child into a math prodigy.
Shen Shijun loved watching cartoons, but when he saw that his father did not watch TV, he gave up the habit. When he first learned to read, he could not concentrate on reading books. Therefore, his father forced Shen Shijun to read passages aloud, about 10-20 minutes or even 1 hour a day. Thanks to this, his concentration gradually improved.
At the age of 5, his father let him read the newspaper. To help his son understand the content of the newspaper, Mr. Tham Chan Hung often combined it with fairy tales related to life.

One day, by chance, while taking his son on a trip, he saw his son concentrating on counting cars on the highway. This helped him realize that Tham Thi Quan was interested in new things.
Since then, Mr. Tham Chan Hung often asked his son to observe how many bubbles the goldfish breathed and how many times it blinked per hour. He changed many different methods to attract his son's attention.
Explaining why outstanding children rarely succeed, Mr. Tham Chan Hung said: "Children encounter many problems in life, but parents often do not pay attention."
He said that he maintains the habit of talking to his children for at least 15 minutes every day. "Many parents think that this is a waste of time, but it is very important," Mr. Tham Chan Hung shared.
Currently, in addition to teaching at the university, Tham Thi Quan continues to contribute to mathematics with research results.
