Traffic flow plan after opening of 4 expressways

Today (April 19), the Ministry of Construction presided over and coordinated with the provinces and cities of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Khanh Hoa, and Tien Giang to organize the Technical Traffic Opening Ceremony of 4 component projects of the North-South Expressway in the East phase 2021 - 2025, including: Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang, Bung - Van Ninh, Van Phong - Nha Trang and the closing ceremony of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge. The event was organized in the form of online connection with the connecting points in the provinces and cities where the project passes through.

Technically open 3 routes, 1 route in operation from April 20

The Bai Vot - Ham Nghi section project is open to the entire main route with a length of more than 35km.

Within the traffic area, there are 3 intersections, including: QL8A intersection, Thanh Binh Thinh commune, Duc Tho district connecting Cau Treo border gate, Hong Linh town; Provincial Road 548 intersection, Trung Loc commune, Can Loc district connecting Nghen town, Dong Lo 3-way historical relic site, QL1A; Intersection with Provincial Road 550, Luu Vinh Son commune, Thach Ha district connecting with Ha Tinh city, QL1A.

The Ham Nghi - Vung Ang section project opened the entire main route with a total length of more than 54km.

The traffic area has 3 intersections, including: Cam Quan QL1 intersection, Cam Quan commune, Cam Xuyen district through the connecting route to QL1A to Cam Xuyen district center, Thien Cam tourist area; Ky Trung intersection, Ky Trung commune, Ky Anh district to QL1A connecting Ky Anh district center; QL12C intersection, Ky Tan commune, Ky Anh district connecting Vung Ang Economic Zone and Ky Anh town).

The Bung - Van Ninh section project is open to traffic on the entire main route with a length of nearly 49km. There are 4 interchanges on the route including: Cu Nam Intersection (distance approximately Km626+690.35); Viet Trung Intersection (distance approximately Km643+480); Nhat Le 2 Intersection (distance approximately Km653+850); QL9B Intersection (distance approximately Km673+750).

The Van Phong - Nha Trang section project has a total length of more than 83km. The expressway will open to traffic and put into operation first 70.35km (from Km298+000 - Km368+350). The traffic area has 3 interconnecting intersections including: Van Gia Intersection at Km299+812 (connecting with National Highway 1); National Highway 26 Intersection at Km332+100 (connecting with National Highway 26); National Highway 27C Intersection at Km368+350 (connecting with National Highway 27C).

According to the plan, the three component projects of Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Ang, Bung - Van Ninh will be technically opened to traffic today (April 19) and opened to traffic, put into operation on the main route from April 28, and completed synchronously before June 30. Particularly, the 70km project of Van Phong - Nha Trang section will be opened to traffic, put into operation from April 20.

How is the traffic?

Regarding the traffic organization plan, on the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi route , vehicles are allowed to circulate from the beginning of the project at Km479+117 to the end of the project at Km514+441 in the North - South direction and vice versa with a maximum speed of 80km/h. The project is shared with the rest stop on the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang route.

On the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway , vehicles are allowed to travel from the beginning of the Project at Km514+300 to the end of Km568+496 in the North - South direction and vice versa with a maximum speed of 80km/h.

The rest stop located at Km534+100 in Cam Xuyen district (located on both sides of the highway) has been cleared. The investor is implementing procedures to invest, construct, and put into operation according to regulations.

On the Bung - Van Ninh expressway , vehicles are allowed to operate from Cu Nam intersection (distance approximately Km626+690.35) to QL9B intersection (distance approximately Km673+750).

Rest stop at Km651+00 (located on both sides of the highway). The Ministry of Construction has selected an investor for the rest stop, according to regulations.

With the Van Phong - Nha Trang section project , vehicles are allowed to participate in traffic on the route at 6:00 a.m. on April 20, from Van Gia intersection (about Km299+812) to QL27C intersection (about Km368+350), connecting with the Nha Trang - Cam Lam section currently in operation.

Rest stop at Km334+900 (located on both sides of the highway). The Ministry of Construction has selected the investor for the rest stop according to regulations.

The Ministry of Construction also noted that the highway is only for cars, the following subjects are not allowed to participate in traffic on the highway: Pedestrians, rudimentary vehicles, motorbikes, motorcycles and tractors; specialized motorbikes with a design speed of less than 90km/h are not allowed to enter the highway (except for people, vehicles and equipment serving the management and maintenance of the highway).

People, vehicles and equipment serving the management and maintenance of highways with their own badges or symbols are allowed to travel on highways (no speed limit) but must not affect or obstruct traffic on the highway.

Vehicles carrying toxic, flammable, explosive substances on the list of dangerous goods prescribed by the Government in Decree No. 42/2020 are only allowed to travel on highways with a permit from a competent authority. Drivers participating in traffic on highways must comply with regulations on load, road size limits, and safety rules according to current laws.

Along with 4 component projects of the North-South Expressway, tomorrow, Rach Mieu 2 Bridge connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, invested by My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction), will be completed, 4 months ahead of schedule, marking an important step, helping the investor and construction units strive to complete the project before October 30.

Also on April 19, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, operated by the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), will open nearly 20km of technical traffic from the QL1 intersection (Km3+420) to the Nguyen Van Tao Intersection (Km21+850). Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport will be inaugurated and put into operation.
