During the historic day of April 30, netizens are spreading images of heroic martyrs restored using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The author of this photo series is Pham Son, an 8X engineer working in Hanoi.
Mr. Son is also the owner of a photo series reconstructing famous poets such as Han Mac Tu, Che Lan Vien, Xuan Quynh, Quang Dung... that was shared at a dizzying speed by the online community.
Sharing with VietNamNet , he said that the idea of restoring photos of heroic martyrs had been in his mind for a long time. He did this work using photo editing skills through the AI Graphic tool.
“At first, I tried to restore the image of 50 Truong Sa soldiers who died in the 1988 battle at Gac Ma Island, then shared it on a group specializing in photo restoration to ask for people's comments,” said Mr. Son.
This was also the opportunity that later led to some relatives of the heroic martyrs knowing and asking Mr. Son to help restore family photos. A military officer in Bac Ninh even asked him to help restore more than 40 photos of soldiers to display in the unit's tradition room.
To increase accuracy, restorers need detailed information to feed data to AI. Typically, families seeking restoration will provide photos of the martyr taken before his death, along with his name, year of birth, and year of death.
According to Mr. Son, the most emotional part of the photo restoration process was seeing some soldiers sacrificed at such a young age.
“Many martyrs are so young, sometimes only 18 years old, so their faces are still “teenagers”. That makes me feel sad and think more about this war,” he said.
All the photo restorations were done by the 8X engineer completely free of charge. According to Mr. Son, restoring photos of martyrs is a noble work for the community. Therefore, he feels happy because his work is meaningful in helping to "revive" the image of deceased relatives for many families of heroic martyrs.
Below are pictures of some martyrs that Mr. Son restored thanks to technology:

Using AI to assist doctors in diagnosing images at hospitals
Artificial intelligence (AI) technology developed by Annalise will be used to support imaging diagnosis at hospitals in Vietnam.
What will Vietnam do to develop artificial intelligence products?
In research and application of artificial intelligence, Vietnam is strongest in purely Vietnamese virtual assistant products. The second group is image processing products, cameras that recognize people, license plates, etc.
