On the evening of March 10, Tuy Hoa City Police (Phu Yen Province) announced that the unit had issued an emergency detention order and a decision to temporarily detain 4 young men and handed over 1 young man to Phu Hoa District Police to coordinate the investigation of 2 property theft cases that occurred in the area.
Tuy Hoa city police arrested a group of thieves who stole electrical equipment and vehicles.
Previously, people were upset that dozens of electrical cabinets and rainwater collection manhole covers at urban infrastructure investment projects in Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province were vandalized and stolen, causing loss of state assets and causing insecurity for people passing through these areas.
Commonly stolen equipment is electrical cabinets, circuit breakers, copper bar systems, copper connecting wires, etc.

At around 1:30 a.m. on March 8, while patrolling the Nam Tuy Hoa urban area (in Quarter 1, Phu Dong Ward, Tuy Hoa City), the authorities discovered a group of 5 people driving a 7-seat Toyota car with suspicious signs, so they proceeded to check.
Police discovered that these 5 people were carrying a pair of gloves, a crowbar, a box cutter, an electric tester and 2 pieces of parachute cord.
The identities of the five subjects were identified as Ngo Quang Huy (born in 1997, residing in Group 4, Tan Duong Hamlet, Tan Thanh Commune, Binh Tan District, Vinh Long); Cao Van Luan, (born in 1993, residing in My Long, An Dan Commune, Tuy An District, Phu Yen Province); Tran Van Huynh (born in 1990, residing in Bao Chau Hamlet, Viet Thang Commune, Phu Tan District, Ca Mau Province); Vo Van Phuong (born in 1995, residing in Tan Phu Hamlet, Tan Binh Commune, Binh Tan District, Vinh Long Province); Cao Van Du (born in 2004, residing in Tan Phu Hamlet, Tan Binh Commune, Binh Tan District, Vinh Long Province) to the Phu Hoa District Police.
During questioning, the five suspects admitted to driving to electrical cabinets in deserted residential areas to steal electrical cables and electrical equipment, but were discovered by the police before they could do so.
These people also confessed to having committed a series of thefts of electrical equipment in Phu Yen province and other provinces and cities nationwide using the same method, causing great economic damage and public outrage.
Immediately afterwards, Tuy Hoa City Police issued an emergency detention order and decided to temporarily detain Ngo Quang Huy, Cao Van Luan, Tran Van Huynh, and Vo Van Phuong.
As for Cao Van Du, Tuy Hoa City Police handed him over to Phu Hoa District Police (Phu Yen Province) to coordinate the investigation of two other property theft cases that occurred in Phu Hoa District.
Tuy Hoa City Police are continuing to coordinate with the Criminal Police Department of Phu Yen Provincial Police to investigate, expand, clarify and handle the subjects according to the provisions of law.
