When arriving in Phu Quoc, Mr. Park Joon-hyuk - a Korean tourist could not hide his excitement. With his wife and children, he had a wonderful vacation on the pearl island in October 2024. "Phu Quoc has a long, peaceful and beautiful coastline that very few other tourist destinations in Vietnam have. What's special is that here I can watch both the sunrise and sunset on the sea, an experience that cannot be found anywhere else," said Mr. Park.

For Mr. Park, the most outstanding feature of Phu Quoc is the harmony between natural scenery and modernity. The tourism infrastructure has developed rapidly but still retains its wild and environmentally friendly features. He and his family participate in coral diving activities, enjoy BBQ parties right on the beach, and are constantly impressed by the pristine beauty of the island. “I really like the experiences at local discovery spots. The people are friendly, the space is airy and the services are convenient, but do not lose the natural beauty of the island,” said Mr. Park.

Phu Quoc not only attracts tourists from Korea but also many other international tourists, notably Taiwan (China) and Southeast Asia. According to Mr. Nguyen Vu Khac Huy - Permanent Vice President of Kien Giang Province Tourism Association, 2024 witnessed an explosion in the number of international tourists to Phu Quoc, even surpassing the peak period before the COVID-19 pandemic. International tourists not only come to relax but also choose this place as a destination for high-end events, conferences and tourism for the upper class.

Phu Quoc Island was voted second in the world in the list of the most beautiful islands according to a survey by Travel & Leisure magazine, just after Maldives. According to a vote from more than 700,000 international tourists, Phu Quoc scored 94.41/100 thanks to outstanding factors such as pristine beaches, high-class accommodation facilities and local culture...

Mr. Pham Quang Hau - General Director of Rooty Trip Tourism Joint Stock Company (Phu Quoc City) said: "Phu Quoc being honored as one of the most beautiful islands in the world is both an opportunity and a big challenge. We must make more efforts to protect the natural beauty, while improving the quality of services to bring a complete experience to tourists".

The south of Phu Quoc Island is now emerging as a bustling tourist center with many projects by Sun Group. This area has become a symbol of luxury tourism, with a chain of high-class resorts and spas at Bai Kem and Ong Doi Cape. “Sunset Town” in the west of the island is also a unique highlight, including a large-scale entertainment and culinary complex, featuring iconic structures such as the Kiss Bridge - a bridge once praised by CNN and the world's leading multimedia art program “The Kiss of the Sea”.

In addition to high-end services, Phu Quoc also has entertainment programs imbued with Vietnamese identity such as water puppetry, the quintessence of Vietnamese culture, bringing unique experiences to international tourists. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Dieu - Director of Dong Noi Phu Quoc Company, the number of international tourists, especially from Korea, Taiwan and China, has increased sharply in 2024. "The most attractive point of Phu Quoc is the abundance of services from popular to high-end, suitable for all types of tourists," said Ms. Dieu.

With a sustainable development strategy, travel companies also focus on island experience tours, focusing on nature and ecological tourism. Natural coral diving services, enjoying BBQ parties on the beach or taking the Hon Thom cable car are all unforgettable experiences in the journey to explore Phu Quoc. Director of Kien Giang Province Department of Tourism Bui Quoc Thai said: "We strive to make Phu Quoc not only an attractive destination but also an international-class tourist center, with diverse and quality services".

Phu Quoc has affirmed its position on the global tourism map, becoming the “rough gem of Southeast Asia” as described by the travel website Travel Off Path. From the story of Mr. Park Joon-hyuk to the achievements of Phu Quoc tourism, this island is not only a destination, but also a symbol of sustainable development and pride of Vietnam’s tourism industry.

By the end of 2024 and early 2025, Phu Quoc is expected to welcome more than 20 airlines with over 100 flights per week from many countries and territories, including new routes from Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. In addition, the Northeast Asian and Southeast Asian markets also have many direct flights from Korea, China, Thailand, and Singapore, along with domestic flights connecting Can Tho City and Phu Quoc. Domestic airlines such as Vietjet Air, Vietnam Airlines, and Vietravel Airlines are also increasing international flights to Phu Quoc.
