Women should know how to take advantage of technology and social media channels to build their personal image and expand their opportunities for self-development.

That is the view that MSc. Le Phuong Ha, Permanent Deputy Director of the Institute of Digital Transformation Strategy, shared with The World and Vietnam Newspaper on the occasion of Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20).
With the rapid changes in society, how has the role of modern women changed? What are the main factors affecting this change?
As society develops, women become more independent and assert their role as active actors in society. We see the presence and active participation of many excellent women in positions in different fields, thanks to women's awareness and access to information and knowledge that is getting better and better.
In addition, through the support of networks and technology platforms, we can work more mobile, flexible, proactive, and interactively. That is also one of the factors that helps women have more opportunities in life as well as work.
In the current context, what opportunities do women have to develop themselves and their careers? What challenges do they face, especially in balancing work and family?
According to the viewpoint and in the CSCI way method that we at the Institute of Digital Transformation Strategy are implementing, along with opportunities, we replace the word "threats" with the word "solutions". That is, instead of using the SWOT matrix, we have SWOS, because when we see an opportunity, we need to find a solution based on the goal we want to aim for, to grasp that opportunity and not see it as a challenge.
So what are the opportunities for women in the current context? Firstly, the flexibility in current working methods allows women to participate in work and social activities more flexibly and easily. Secondly, the issue of gender equality and awareness of gender roles in work is improving. Thirdly, the gap in capacity between men and women is increasingly reduced as new social capacities increasingly rely less on physical and physiological factors and more on thinking and adaptability.
The 4.0 technology revolution creates new opportunities for women, but also poses many challenges. Can you share about the positive and negative impacts of technology on women?
There is no denying that technology has given women more opportunities to advance their careers, learn, and connect socially. Today, many women can do multiple jobs at the same time, and even their jobs span many different fields, depending on their ability to take advantage of technology and their ability to organize their time.
Through the media and social networks, the image and position of women in society are better reinforced. This is different from the previous society, when women often played the role of the rear, the "silent people" behind the men.
However, every issue has “two sides of the coin”. Society develops thanks to the daily changes of technology because it has overcome the barriers of space and time. Because of that, it also brings the risk of privacy invasion in general to everyone. For women, mothers, they also face challenges in raising children, many of which are rare/uncommon in previous societies, so they are often confused when facing them.
Therefore, women today need to be much more courageous, always proactive, and take precautions against negative social impacts, while still promoting integration through connections and social networks.
Policy plays an important role in supporting women's development. What specific policies are needed to create more favorable conditions for women to participate in social and economic activities, Madam?
Once again, I would like to affirm that the development opportunities for women today are very large. To be able to support women to grasp those opportunities, each different target group, in different regions, will need to have its own appropriate policies, but in which, it is necessary to focus on a number of goals:
Firstly, policies and programs need to promote women's participation in social transformation processes through legitimate organizations and activities.
Second, actively promote and disseminate opportunities for women to participate in social activities through communication and connection platforms.
Third, promote gender equality and the rights and obligations in co-parenting children and families. To me, this is especially important, because the family is the foundation of society. Therefore, only when women have the support and companionship of their families can they fully develop their abilities and achieve career advancement.

With current trends, what do you predict the future of women will be like in the next 10 years? What skills and qualities will help them succeed in the future?
I see that, until now, although society has undergone many changes, Vietnamese women have always retained their traditional beauty, but are more independent and self-reliant in both thinking and action.
However, as science and technology develop rapidly, society requires high-quality, skilled, qualified, and specialized workers to meet this growth rate. This is also one of the bottlenecks that will cause human resources in the next few years to be both abundant (in terms of the number of cheap workers) and lacking (in terms of knowledge and specialized skills).
In addition, we cannot be subjective about the future 10 years from now, due to the impact of social influences, which will most likely lead to changes in thinking about marriage and family, especially among women.
Therefore, to adapt to this development process, women need to strengthen and improve their professional capacity, as well as practice to have sharp emotional intelligence (EQ), helping them affirm their position, position and role in society.
In the digital age, what role do social media channels play in building women's personal image, in your view?
In the past, we may have thought that building a personal brand was something far-fetched, stylized, even a bit boastful and ostentatious. But that is not necessarily the case. The way we live, not just existing, contributing, not just working, or loving, not just loving, will create a unique self, a unique brand for that individual.
In the digital age, when information technology and social networks are exploding, where we can be known very easily, the question of how to build a personal brand so that we do not dissolve in that vast world is not an easy question to answer.
Nowadays, it is very important for women to know how to utilize social media channels to build their personal image. It is a good means for women to have the opportunity to learn, share and connect with friends, as well as form their personal profile in career development, thereby expanding opportunities in socio-economic activities.
Thank you!
