Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly had a friendly meeting with the Board of Directors of the ASEAN Women's Community Group

(Dan Tri) - At noon on October 11, Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly - Wife of General Secretary andPresident To Lam - had an intimate meeting, wearing Ao Dai, having a meal and enjoying tea with the Executive Committee of the ASEAN Women's Community Group (AWCH).

Attending the intimate meeting with Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly in Hanoi, on the Vietnamese side, there were also female leaders of the Office of the President , the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Vietnam Women's Union.

The ASEAN Women's Community Group in Hanoi (AWCH) was established on August 11, 2015 at the celebration of the 48th anniversary of ASEAN and the 20th anniversary of Vietnam's accession to ASEAN. This is one of the initiatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to celebrate the establishment of the ASEAN Community on December 31, 2015. The AWCH includes female Ambassadors, Ambassadors' spouses, leaders and female officials of ASEAN embassies in Hanoi, spouses of leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of female officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Honorary President of the Group is Ms. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, wife of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son. Ms. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc said that after nearly 10 years of operation, the AWCH Group has become increasingly close-knit, expanded and had many meaningful activities. From the initial starting point, it gradually expanded and formed a network with the participation of 19 ASEAN partners and spread to the capitals of ASEAN countries... The group's activities are rich, practical and close such as: ASEAN Family Day; food festival to raise charity for women and children in difficult circumstances; learning about Vietnam and ASEAN... contributing to enhancing exchanges, understanding, promoting ASEAN's diverse culture, strengthening friendship, and connecting international friends. The activities of the AWCH Group have always received support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the wives of senior leaders through the periods. The image of the ASEAN family and ASEAN women's solidarity are spread.

Madam Vu Thi Bich Ngoc expressed her joy and thanked Madam Ngo Phuong Ly for taking the time to meet the members of the AWCH Group. "The image of Madam Ngo Phuong Ly in unique ao dai and foreign exchange activities not only left a deep impression on international friends about ao dai and Vietnamese cultural traditions, but also inspired and brought pride to women working in foreign affairs," Madam Vu Thi Bich Ngoc shared.

Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh emphasized that ASEAN plays an important role in promoting cooperation and integration among member countries through three pillars: politics -security, economy and socio-culture. The Ambassador said that Vietnam plays an important role in promoting women's empowerment. Vietnamese women have helped build the country and develop the socio-economy throughout history. The ACWH group has demonstrated the contributions of ASEAN women in the diplomatic corps, and the members of the group have a strong relationship. The AWCH group has become a bridge for friendship and cooperation between Vietnamese women and ASEAN partners, as well as between ASEAN and other countries in the world...

Speaking at the meeting, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly - Wife of General Secretary and President To Lam - expressed her joy at meeting the members of the AWCH Group right on the occasion of the cool autumn weather in Hanoi . Moved by the closeness and familiarity with the members of the AWCH Group, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly changed the way she addressed them to "sisters". Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly hopes that after today's meeting, she will have more dear friends. The Lady was impressed and congratulated the results of the AWCH Group's activities over the past 10 years with the creativity and dedication of the members.

Cultural and people-to-people exchange activities organized by the group have contributed significantly to the common efforts of ASEAN and each country in consolidating and cultivating ASEAN solidarity. The group's activities have promoted the role and contribution of women in society, while spreading good community values ​​to ASEAN members as well as international friends, bringing people closer together.

Madam Ngo Phuong Ly affirmed that she is always ready to support and accompany "sisters" on the next journey to contribute to building bridges of friendship in the region and beyond.

With warm handshakes and lively conversations, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly and the AWCH Group enjoyed traditional Vietnamese dishes such as: Bun cha, spring rolls, "mother's" rice (including braised fish, sour soup, boiled vegetables with fish sauce, and clay pot rice)... and watched the Ao Dai performance - the costume symbolizing the traditional beauty of Vietnamese women.

Madam Ngo Phuong Ly and delegates and guests enjoyed the betel nut offering culture, a traditional feature demonstrating Vietnamese hospitality.

Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly and the AWCH group experienced making Kim Hoang paintings, a folk painting genre that appeared in the late 18th century in Kim Hoang village, Van Canh commune, Hoai Duc district (Hanoi).
