In the early morning of June 7, Ms. Thanh Ngoc (in Nghia Hung, Nam Dinh) suddenly woke up because of the heat. The area where she lives had been without electricity since noon. In the next room, her 12th grade daughter was still diligently solving exam questions, under the dim light of a rechargeable lamp.
Feeling sorry for her child's hard work, she used a hand fan to fan him so he could study with peace of mind. For the past month, Ms. Ngoc's family has been following the motto "walk lightly, speak softly, smile charmingly", not daring to speak harshly to her child because an important exam is coming up.
The image of students studying for exams in the dim light of their phones attracted more than 10,000 likes on an online forum (Photo: Nghe An).
"My parents haven't had time to prepare rechargeable fans. The weather is so hot, it's uncomfortable to do nothing, let alone the children are struggling to study for exams. A few days ago, the electricity was cut off at 4am, and at this time my children usually wake up to study," said Ngoc.
Similarly, Ms. Bui Giang (Giao Thuy, Nam Dinh) whose child is studying for the 10th grade entrance exam also struggles with hot days and power outages. The weather is as hot as fire, the power is constantly cut off, she feels sorry for her child studying for the exam but doesn't know what to do. There are days when the power goes out from 8:30 pm until midnight. There are also times when the power is cut off until morning, while her child studies late into the night, sweating all over.
Ms. Giang encouraged her child to take a nap to save energy. Feeling sorry for her child, the mother sat fanning him all night long to help him sleep. When the electricity came back in the morning, she woke him up to continue reviewing his lessons. Her arms were tired and sweaty, but she told herself she had to try her best to share with her child.
Ngoc Minh (Thanh Oai, Hanoi) chose to bring his books to a coffee shop to avoid the heat on the day of the power outage. However, Minh could not study much at the shop because it was crowded and noisy. He said that even though he studied all day and all night, he was still very worried because the exam would officially knock on his door in a few days.
" I'm very worried. If I don't study, I feel anxious, but studying in a power outage makes it difficult to concentrate. There is a rechargeable fan at home. The other day, when the power went out, I forgot to charge it. I studied while using a towel to wipe my sweat ," this student confided.
Ngoc Minh hopes that there will be no power outages in the coming days so that she and her fellow senior students will have less trouble studying for their exams. Minh said that her parents always encourage her to avoid stress and if it gets too hot, she should put her books away and rest.
