Hanoi parents accuse preschool teacher of violence that caused 3-year-old son to "frighten up in the middle of the night like crying colic"

Ms. Q. said that at around 1am, her 3-year-old son wakes up and cries for more than an hour like he is having a colic, however the kindergarten teacher does not admit to abusing the student.

Ms. DTNQ, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi, said she had just sent a complaint to E. Kindergarten, address: N02 building, New Horizon urban area, Linh Nam street, Mai Dong ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi, about her son being "abused" by the teacher while going to school.

According to Ms. Q., her son is in the Moon Reggio class with Ms. LTO as the homeroom teacher and 2 teachers TTL and NTT. "During the week from March 10-17, when I picked him up, I saw him acting panicky and scared and saying, "Mom, I'm not going to school, the teachers are beating me." When I asked him, he said that the teachers in the class were beating him. On March 17, after my grandfather talked and asked him, the teachers admitted that they had beaten my son but lightly because he lacked life skills and hoped that the parents and family would sympathize so that they could continue to teach him," Ms. Q. recounted.

According to this parent, on March 19, she went to the school to ask the teachers and met Ms. T., the school's administrator. Ms. T. said she did not know about the incident and affirmed that she would never let students be beaten. She filed a request for the school to extract the camera footage.

"However, in the extracted camera, I could only see the classroom and restroom on March 18. On March 20, I went to Mai Dong Ward Police to report. At that time, the school extracted the full footage but still firmly denied that the teacher beat my child. When I watched the camera, I saw my child and other classmates being beaten continuously. This caused my child to suffer psychological trauma and be very afraid to go to school. He always said that when he went to school, the teachers beat him very painfully," Ms. Q was indignant.

Also according to Ms. Q: "I chose the school because according to the introduction on the website as well as the teachers, they have a long history of working in the education sector and have modern teaching methods. I put my trust in the school so that my child can go to school and be exposed to good things, not be beaten by teachers in the class. I really hope that the authorities will consider and handle it according to the provisions of the law."

On the morning of March 24, speaking with a reporter from Dan Viet newspaper, Ms. Truong Thu Ha, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Hoang Mai district, Hanoi confirmed that she had received the information.

"The Department of Education and Training of Hoang Mai district has directed the verification and requested the school to report the incident. After the investigation, if there are any violations, they will be handled according to regulations," said Ms. Ha.
