Phu Binh: Number of rabies vaccinations increased

According to Phu Binh District Medical Center, as of April 21, the entire district recorded 319 cases requiring rabies vaccination, an increase of 50 cases compared to the same period in 2024. In the context of the increasing number of cases of contact with suspected rabid dogs and cats, rabies vaccination for people and livestock is receiving special attention from the locality.

Phu Binh district currently has about 47,000 dogs; the vaccination target for the whole year of 2025 is 20,000 doses of rabies vaccine for dogs. After the first vaccination phase (from March 15 to April 15), the district has completed the plan. However, many communes are still requesting additional vaccine sources to continue vaccination, because the actual demand is higher than the assigned target, especially in areas with high risk of infection.

According to assessments, rabies vaccination for people in Phu Binh district is currently facing many difficulties, notably the shortage of vaccines at certain times.

Unstable vaccine supply affects the timely handling of dog and cat bite cases, increasing the risk of threats to people's health and lives.
