In Ban Cam commune (Bao Thang district), people voluntarily donated thousands of square meters of land to open roads, making trade and travel more convenient.

When the locality had a policy to expand the main road of Nam Tang village, Ms. Hoang Thi Luu was the first person in the village to volunteer to donate her family's land to expand the road. Ms. Luu said: My family is willing to cut down fruit trees, corn, and cassava to have a clean surface for road construction. Expanding the road will not only help people travel more conveniently, but my family will also benefit.

Ms. Luu's family has donated land twice, with more than 300 square meters, along with many crops on the land, worth nearly 100 million VND. Her family also actively joined the villagers in working days to clear the ground, pour concrete, and help the road to be completed soon. Not sparing any effort or money, it is these open hearts that have inspired and spread the movement of building rural roads throughout the villages and hamlets of Ban Cam. Many village and inter-village roads have been expanded simultaneously.

Nam Tang Village Chief Ly Van Thanh said: From 2022 to now, the village has expanded and concreted 6.8 km of village roads and roads to the production area; 81 households on both sides of the road have voluntarily donated 10,000 m2 of residential and production land.

Having reached the new rural commune finish line for more than 4 years, aiming to become an advanced new rural commune by 2025, Ban Cam still has many criteria that have not been met, in which the expansion and upgrading of traffic routes to meet new standards has been identified by the locality as a key task. To implement this, the commune prioritizes the construction of routes leading to agricultural commodity production areas such as banana and pineapple areas... Trucks transporting agricultural products to convenient consumption with stable prices are a clear effect of the expansion of rural traffic routes, thereby creating higher consensus among the people.

Comrade Dao Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ban Cam Commune, said: The voluntary donation of land by local people has created a great driving force for the locality to develop the rural transport network. From 2022 to present, the commune has renovated and upgraded more than 11 km of village roads; more than 120 households have donated land with an area of more than 12,000 m2 and more than 500 working days. Currently, 70% of the main roads in the renovated villages have a road surface width of 6 m or more.

The wide and scenic roads not only help people travel conveniently but also open up opportunities for economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of the people. This is also a clear demonstration of the spirit of solidarity and unanimity of the local people in building the new countryside.
