On the evening of January 12, a leader of Hue City Police (Thua Thien Hue Province) confirmed to VietNamNet that the unit's professional teams, in coordination with the Provincial Police, are investigating the incident in which a ward police officer was stabbed.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. the same day, and the perpetrator was immediately subdued and arrested. At 7 p.m., leaders of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police were also present at the scene to direct the investigation.
The identity of the arrested subject is Nguyen Tan Sang (born 1999, residing in Xuan Hoa, Thuy Van ward, Hue city).
Previously, on January 9, Thuy Van Ward Police issued a notice to agencies, units, schools... in the area with the following content: Currently, in Thuy Van Ward, there is a subject named Nguyen Tan Sang showing signs of psychosis.
This subject often stands in the middle of the road at the intersection of Le Duc Anh and 36m road of Xuan Hoa residential area, causing traffic jams and affecting security and order in the area.
On that basis, Thuy Van Ward Police requested agencies and units to raise vigilance, take preventive measures and promptly report to authorities when detecting subjects with acts that disrupt security and order.
At around 5:30 p.m. this afternoon, upon receiving a report from the people about Sang causing trouble, Captain TDH - Deputy Chief of Thuy Van Ward Police quickly arrived at the scene to handle the incident. There, Captain H. was seriously injured by Sang with a knife.
VietNamNet's source at Hue Central Hospital at 7:30 pm tonight said that Captain H. was admitted to the emergency room in critical condition. Despite the dedicated treatment of the medical team, Captain H. died due to severe injuries and blood loss.
Currently, the case is being investigated and clarified by the authorities of Thua Thien Hue province.
