Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz will arrive in Algeria today, June 23, and is expected to meet with the country's top leaders as well as the business community in the capital Algiers, Anadolu news agency reported.
According to sources, Algerian Prime Minister Mohamed Nezir al-Arbawi will preside over the welcoming ceremony at Houari Boumediene International Airport.
Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz is scheduled to meet Turkish business representatives in the North African country at a meeting organized by the World Business Council of Türkiye (DTIK).
According to the schedule tomorrow, June 24, the Turkish leader will meet with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and attend the opening ceremony of the Algeria International Fair as a guest of honor.
Accompanying Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz were Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas and Minister of Trade Omer Bolat.
The visit comes less than a week after Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf visited Türkiye, where he held a closed-door meeting with host country President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to Arab News, Algeria occupies an important place in Turkey's Africa policy and in return, Algiers appreciates Ankara's position on the international stage.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's state visit to Türkiye in 2022 and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's reciprocal visit last year cemented the deepening ties between the two countries.
During Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Algeria, Ankara and Algiers elevated their relations to a strategic level, marking a significant step forward in bilateral relations since Abdelmadjid Tebboune took office as President in 2019.
