The Deputy Prime Minister proposed that the United Nations prioritize supporting Vietnam in mobilizing finance, transferring technology, sharing knowledge and practical experience, especially in a number of areas such as improving the capacity to respond and adapt to climate change, effectively managing water resources, energy conversion, innovation, and digital transformation.
UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed said the world is entering an important phase with many global challenges, requiring countries to uphold multilateralism and promote cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals.
Ms. Amina Mohammed affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of the United Nations; she hopes that Vietnam will coordinate in implementing the United Nations' agendas, including responding to climate change, energy transition, digital transformation, maintaining food supply chains, promoting education, ensuring inclusive development, social justice, etc.
United Nations organizations are ready to support Vietnam in mobilizing resources, thereby helping Vietnam accelerate the implementation of development goals, especially in energy transition and climate change response.
After working at the United Nations headquarters, the Deputy Prime Minister visited Cornell University, a long-standing and prestigious university in the United States.
The school's principal, Mr. Greg Morrisett, said that although it was only established in 2011, the school has made great contributions to the development of human resources in the field of science and technology and supported the establishment of more than one hundred technology startups in New York City.
The school's training programs focus on fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, algorithms, network security, etc. He also highly appreciated the cooperation with Vietnamese universities as well as the quality of Vietnamese students studying at the school.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his impression of the programs and projects that the school is implementing, and suggested that the school continue to cooperate and coordinate research on joint training programs with major universities in Vietnam.
