This is the first time the GGF has been organized to clarify the orientation, priorities and attract countries' attention to the EC's initiative on the Global Gateway Strategy, announced in December 2021, with the aim of promoting smart, clean and safe connectivity in the digital, energy and transport sectors; strengthening global health, education and research systems; thereby promoting sustainable development and solving global problems.
Priority areas of the Global Gateway Strategy include: Digital transformation, green energy transition, infrastructure, sustainable transport, healthcare, and educational research.
The EU plans to mobilize 300 billion Euros for the period 2022-2027 to implement the strategy's projects.
In Southeast Asia, the EU will implement key projects of the Global Gateway Strategy in Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia.
With the theme "Stronger Together Through Sustainable Investment", the Forum will focus on exchanging and sharing experiences in 6 thematic discussion sessions on promoting global investment in sustainable infrastructure.
