Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son met with Ms. Valentina Matvienco, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Parliament.
Ms. Valentina Matvienco was delighted to welcome Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son on an official visit to Russia in the atmosphere of the two countries celebrating important holidays and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, affirming that Vietnam is Russia's largest and most trusted partner in Southeast Asia.
After listening to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son announce the results of the talks between the two countries' Foreign Ministers, Ms. Valentina Matvienco highly appreciated the positive developments in many areas of the two countries' recent relations; saying that the two countries' increased exchange of delegations at all levels and through various channels is a very good opportunity to discuss measures to further promote relations and implement cooperation agreements between the two countries.
The Chairman of the Russian Senate expressed his hope to soon meet with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on the sidelines of the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly in Uzbekistan.
Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienco affirmed that all parties in the Russian Parliament have the best feelings for Vietnam and support strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to the Senate Chairman and looked forward to welcoming Ms. Valentina Matvienco back to Vietnam soon.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that cooperation between the two countries' parliaments holds an important position in the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; thanked the Russian Federation Council, including Chairwoman Matvienko, for always having special affection for Vietnam, paying attention to and supporting the enhancement of cooperation between the two countries in all fields; affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly has closely and effectively coordinated with the Russian Federation Council in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.
The Deputy Prime Minister hopes that the Federal Council will continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese National Assembly to supervise and promote the effective implementation of cooperation agreements reached between the high-ranking leaders and governments of the two countries; and propose that the Federal Council continue to act as a bridge to help Vietnamese provinces and cities connect and establish cooperative relations with Russian localities, and implement cooperation with specific and practical results on the basis of signed agreements.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son on his official visit to Russia, affirming that Russia highly values the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that increasing meetings and information exchanges between the two countries is an opportunity to enhance coordination of actions and promote both multilateral and bilateral aspects.
The two Deputy Prime Ministers focused on discussing bilateral cooperation issues, especially in economics, trade and investment. The two sides agreed that, with the close guidance of the two countries' senior leaders and the efforts of the ministries and branches of both sides, economic, trade and investment cooperation has achieved encouraging results in recent times, but there are still many obstacles, requiring joint efforts from both sides to maximize the room and optimize economic cooperation. Accordingly, for the problems in cooperation, the two sides need to have policies and coordinate closely with each other to soon find solutions, in accordance with the spirit of the loyal and trustworthy relationship and the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The two Deputy Prime Ministers discussed bilateral cooperation issues, especially in economics, trade and investment.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that Russia, with its important role in the Eurasian Economic Union, urge member countries to agree to remove threshold defense measures on Vietnam's export products; increase Vietnam's rice export quota; seek new investment directions, creating favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to invest in each other's territories; and suggest that the two sides make more efforts to increase direct air connectivity, promote tourism, facilitate people-to-people travel and exchanges.
Also on April 3, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son visited the Presidential Academy and received Mr. Kudryashov Sergei Ivanovich, General Director of Zarubezhneft Group, a Russian enterprise with many years of oil and gas cooperation with Vietnam.
