On January 19, within the framework of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat (AMMR), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son had a bilateral meeting with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

The two sides expressed satisfaction with the strong development of the Strategic Partnership in recent times, in which strategic areas such as connecting the two economies, education and training, finance, digital transformation, etc. have contributed to elevating the bilateral relationship in the new development stage.
Regarding the direction for the coming time, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan agreed to closely coordinate and thoroughly prepare for the upcoming high-level visits to achieve high, substantive and effective results; at the same time, focus on coordinating with relevant ministries and branches to actively implement the results achieved in the recent high-level visits, especially the Green Economy - Digital Economy Partnership, the Economic Connectivity Agreement, to create a substantive change, especially in the fields of digital transformation, innovation, energy connectivity and data center construction.

The two sides also agreed to continue to closely coordinate in other important areas such as security and defense, training high-quality human resources, and support each other in running for positions at international organizations.
Affirming their coordination and support for Malaysia to successfully fulfill its role as ASEAN Chair in 2025, the two sides discussed measures to strengthen ASEAN solidarity, pay due attention to ASEAN's sustainable development, including promoting the power grid, actively contributing to ASEAN's self-reliance, prosperity and sustainable development, as well as promoting ASEAN's central role in promoting the handling of regional issues.
