Nam Dinh Pho and Quang noodles become national intangible cultural heritages

This morning, August 12, Permanent Vice Chairman of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Dung said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued Decision No. 2326/QD-BVHTTDL on announcing the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage for Nam Dinh Pho.

Accordingly, Nam Dinh pho was included by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the list of national intangible cultural heritages in the form of folk knowledge, meeting all the following criteria: Representative, expressing community and local identity; reflecting cultural diversity and human creativity, inherited through many generations; capable of recovery and long-term existence; agreed upon by the community, voluntarily nominated and committed to protection.

Nam Dinh Pho is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Nam Dinh is known as the homeland of pho, where many villages and families selling pho have been established in all localities. Among them, there are typical villages such as Van Cu, Giao Cu, Tay Lac (Dong Son commune, Nam Truc district), Thach Bi, Phuc Tho (Nam Thai commune, Nam Truc district).

For a long time, Nam Dinh pho has become a popular dish in Vietnamese culinary culture, loved by many people not only domestically but also in many countries around the world.

Nam Dinh pho becoming a national intangible cultural heritage is the initial basis for the Government to submit to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for consideration and inclusion of Nam Dinh pho in the list of representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

From there, propose solutions to preserve and promote the value of the intangible cultural heritage of Nam Dinh pho; continue to promote the propaganda and promotion of Nam Dinh pho culinary cultural heritage; strengthen State management of the heritage. At the same time, enhance the role and responsibility of authorities at all levels, culinary associations and organizations and the community in preserving and protecting the brand value and unique culinary products of Nam Dinh land and people.

On the same day, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province said that the craft of making Quang noodles was also included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam, the inclusion of Quang noodles in the list of national intangible cultural heritage has affirmed the cultural value of folk knowledge. Thereby, promoting the preservation and promotion of the value of Quang noodles culinary culture to attract tourists, develop tourism and the local economy.

Previously, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province sent a document to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposing to include the Quang noodle processing profession in the list of national intangible cultural heritage.

According to the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, the craft of making Quang noodles brings together the unique culinary values ​​of the locality. Quang noodles follow the footsteps of migrants on their journey to the open South, willing to accept any ingredients on the way to assimilate and transform, creating a diversity in culinary flavors.

This is a culinary product with many variations, highlighting the characteristics of folk culture; a rare dish that can "please" all types of guests; a rustic dish but contains the historical process of formation and the folk knowledge system of Quang Nam land.
