Chinese Vice President to attend Trump's inauguration

(CLO) China has just announced that Vice President Han Zheng will represent the country to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Donald Trump in Washington next Monday.

The information was announced by China's Foreign Ministry on Friday morning, just three days before the inauguration. This is the first time a senior Chinese leader has officially attended the event.

Sending Vice President Han Zheng to attend is an important diplomatic move to affirm Beijing's goodwill in stabilizing relations with Washington.

"We are willing to work with the new US administration to strengthen dialogue, properly handle differences, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and jointly promote stable, healthy and sustainable China-US relations," the Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed.

Trump’s return to the White House has fueled speculation about the US approach to the world’s second-largest economy. Trump has previously threatened to raise tariffs on Chinese goods by as much as 60%, raising concerns about the risk of escalating trade tensions.

Therefore, Vice President Han Zheng's attendance at the inauguration ceremony is not only symbolic but also a strategic move to open up opportunities for bilateral dialogue, especially on trade, technology and global issues.

International public opinion is expecting that the world's two leading powers will find a common voice, contributing to stabilizing the global economic and political order in the coming years.
