According to the report of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation, after 15 years of operation, Ca Mau Power Plant 1 and 2 have provided a cumulative electricity output of over 108 billion kWh, contributing over 4,300 billion VND to the state budget. The results achieved have contributed significantly to the economic development of Ca Mau province, especially in recent years, industrial production has become one of the key economic sectors of the province.
Electricity production in the first 6 months of the year reached 112% of the plan and revenue reached 115% of the plan due to high system demand during the dry season, so EVN mobilized two gas-fueled plants, exceeding the plan by 8.5% (2,994/2,759 million kWh).
In the past time, Ca Mau Oil and Gas Power Company has complied with and fully implemented the regulations and rules of the Corporation and the policies and laws of the State in general and the Electricity Law in particular, ensuring the safe management and operation of Ca Mau Power Plant 1 and 2, preventing subjective incidents, fire and explosion incidents, and labor accidents.
The economic and technical indicators have all met and exceeded the standards assigned by the Corporation; security, safety, fire prevention and fighting work ensure safe conditions for operations and production and business. Labor and salary policies and regimes for staff and employees are strictly complied with; at the same time, social security work for the locality is always well implemented.
In addition to the advantages, the representative of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation said that the fact that Ca Mau 1 and 2 power plants are limited in gas volume to only enough for 3 generators to operate during peak and off-peak times of the power system also causes difficulties for the business. In addition, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation also said that during the operation, there were also difficulties such as during the rainy season, due to the reduced load demand of the system and the market prioritizing the exploitation of hydropower plants along with the exploitation of renewable energy, so Ca Mau 1 and 2 power plants were only exploited and operated at low capacity, therefore, not using all the gas supplied according to their capacity.
Due to the priority of exploiting renewable energy sources, especially solar power plants, at some peak times at noon, 1 to 2 generators must be stopped and started; affecting the operation and efficiency of the 2 plants. The total number of starts in the first 6 months of the year of Ca Mau Power Plant 1 and 2 according to EVN's request is 93 times.
At the meeting, the delegates of the Supervisory Delegation requested the National Oil and Gas Group to clarify a number of issues related to ensuring gas supply for the factories and safety during operations, in order to ensure socio-economic development. Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai said that the Supervisory Delegation had worked with many local ministries and branches, and through on-site surveys in the localities, recorded difficulties and obstacles. At the same time, the Supervisory Delegation would also request the group and agencies to clarify the issues raised.
Through the survey, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai highly appreciated the production and business results of the Oil and Gas Group, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation, and the Ca Mau Oil and Gas Power Company. In particular, the team of engineers and workers overcame difficulties and mastered techniques in the process of operating the system, contributing to socio-economic development and ensuring national energy security.
