Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan: "I expect Movitel to create a new miracle"

On September 11, 2023, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan had a working session at Movitel - Viettel brand in Mozambique, within the framework of an official visit to the Republic of Mozambique.

Also attending the event were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Mozambique, leaders of the Ministries of Information and Communications, Foreign Affairs, Planning and Investment, Industry and Trade, the Office of the President, and the Central External Relations Commission.

Reporting to the Vice President, Movitel representative presented the results of operations and contributions to society as well as to the people of Movitel. After more than 11 years of investment in Mozambique, Viettel has contributed to the popularization of telecommunications services, especially in rural, remote and isolated areas thanks to an infrastructure of more than 35,000 km of fiber optic cables, more than 2,000 transceiver stations, covering 92.4% of the population in Mozambique.

To date, Movitel is one of the largest network operators in Mozambique and holds 44.8% of the mobile market share. Movitel has also contributed 294 million USD, ranking in the top 3 highest tax-paying enterprises in Mozambique.

Not only creating jobs with stable income for more than 100,000 workers, Movitel has actively supported the government and people of Mozambique in social responsibility activities, accumulating more than 10 million USD.

Currently, Movitel is a pioneer in digital transformation for the government and ministries of Mozambique. Specifically, the National Assembly of Mozambique has deployed the eCabinet, eOffice and video conference paperless office ecosystems developed by Movitel. Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and a delegation including the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Mozambique, leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Office of the President, and Central External Relations Commission visited Movitel.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan expressed her special impression of Viettel's success with its foreign investment model in Mozambique, highly appreciating the results that Movitel has achieved, contributing to socio-economic development, creating jobs, and ensuring social security in the host country.

The Vice President asked Movitel to develop sharp strategies to continue to maintain the market share, reputation and brand of Viettel and Movitel. “Movitel must maintain the reputation and affection of the Mozambican people and the Mozambican Government. I expect Movitel to create new miracles in the new development period, contributing to promoting the solidarity, friendship and cooperation for mutual development between Vietnam and Mozambique,” Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan concluded.
