Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan visits Truong Sa

The delegation included Party Central Committee members Nguyen Hai Ninh, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee; Lieutenant General Nguyen Doan Anh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and leaders of Khanh Hoa province and the Navy.

Reporting to the Vice President, Rear Admiral Nguyen Anh Tuan, Commander of Naval Region 4, said: In recent years, despite many difficulties, especially in the face of complicated developments of the situation at sea; Party committees and commanders at all levels in the entire Region have closely followed the situation and tasks, promoted responsibility, led and directed the comprehensive completion of all aspects of work, and many tasks have been excellently completed.

The entire Region has focused on building a strong political foundation and high combat readiness; firmly maintaining sovereignty over seas and islands within the assigned scope, notably deploying forces to propagate and chase away survey and exploration ships operating illegally in our exclusive economic zone; firmly grasping the situation, promptly advising and proposing to the Standing Committee of the Party Committee - the Military Command, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense to handle situations in accordance with policies.

Along with that, the Regional Command has always been active and proactive in rescue work, always identifying the task of rescuing and helping people as a combat task in peacetime, ready to mobilize, be present in time to rescue and help fishermen in distress, affirming that islands, island points, and ships operating at sea are truly a fulcrum and a solid belief for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea.

Speaking to the officers and soldiers of Naval Region 4 and via an online video conference with the soldiers and people of Truong Sa island district, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan shared that despite many difficulties, Naval Region 4 has maintained its will and belief, always held the steering wheel firmly, held the gun firmly, and kept watch day and night to firmly maintain the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. The Vice President praised the collective of officers, soldiers and people of Truong Sa island district for always sticking to and building the sea and islands of the Fatherland; successfully completing the task of managing and firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

The Vice President emphasized that in the coming time, the world and regional situation will continue to have many complex and unpredictable developments, including the East Sea. Navy officers and soldiers in general, Navy Region 4, as well as the soldiers and people of Truong Sa island district in particular, need to clearly identify three groups of tasks: protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland; maintaining security and safety at sea; and developing a sustainable marine economy.

He hoped that the officers and soldiers of the Navy would continue to promote their heroic tradition, overcome all difficulties, and effectively implement the policies of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense in modernizing the Navy, building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern Navy; building a strong national defense at sea; continuing to pay attention to doing a good job of strategic forecasting, promptly advising the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense on policies and solutions to flexibly and correctly handle complex situations at sea, and not be passive or surprised in any situation...

During the working program, the Vice President presented gifts to the soldiers and people of Truong Sa island district; Naval Region 4; brigades 146, 189, 162; and planted a memorial tree at Naval Region 4.
