The movie 'Childhood Moon' has just been licensed and will be widely shown like 'Peach, Pho and Piano'.

Responding to Tuoi Tre Online on the afternoon of May 29, Director of the Cinema Department Vi Kien Thanh confirmed that the department had granted a license to distribute the film Childhood Moon.

The film tells about Uncle Ho's childhood, set from 1895 to 1901.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung, general director of Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company - the producer of the film Childhood Moon - told Tuoi Tre Online that the film will have a non-revenue screening to serve those in the industry, and will be released to the public on June 5.

Regarding wide release, after the screening date of June 5, Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company will send a dispatch to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to ask for the ministry's opinion on wide release like the film Dao, Pho and Piano.

Once the department makes a decision, the film will be released in theaters for general audiences to buy tickets to see.

Previously, the film Childhood Moon was scheduled to premiere on May 17, but had to be postponed because it had not been licensed in time.

Regarding this, Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung explained: "The reason is that the film production process has not been completed.

This movie was filmed in Hue and Nghe An. When we were filming in Hue, it was during the flood season so the filming schedule was delayed. This was a weather issue so we couldn't foresee it."

I hope movies about Uncle Ho are shown widely like Dao, Pho and Piano.

Mr. Hung hopes that Childhood Moon will be widely shown in many cinemas such as Dao, Pho and Piano to serve the audience.

"The film tells about Uncle Ho's childhood, and there is a great lack of children's films nowadays. Since I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass, there has only been one film ordered by the State.

I believe the film Childhood Moon will be well received by the public" - he said.

After information about the movie Childhood Moon was released, the distributor Mega GS announced that 100 theaters were ready to show the movie.

The film Childhood Moon tells the story of the boy Nguyen Sinh Cung from his childhood in 1895 to 1901 when he and his parents and older brother Nguyen Sinh Khiem went to Hue for the first time.

The film was written by Dang Thi Thanh Binh and directed by Ho Ngoc Xum.

The film was produced by Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024); the 134th anniversary of Uncle Ho's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2024) and the 113th anniversary of Uncle Ho's departure to find a way to save the country (June 5, 1911 - June 5, 2024).

The script Childhood Moon won third prize in the 2020 Feature Film Script Writing Competition, organized by the Department of Cinema.
