Movies in theaters on Lunar New Year 2025 attract attention with many new features

According to the latest information from distributors, cinemas will have movies during Tet holiday. "The Guardian Quartet" by Tran Thanh; "Love the wrong best friend" by Nguyen Quang Dung, Diep The Vinh; "The billion dollar kiss" by Thu Trang, expected to be released on the first day of Lunar New Year 2025 (January 29).

Tran Thanh's movies have stopped making people "cry"?

If this director's Tet movies have ever attracted attention because of the fierce confrontations between children and parents ( The Godfather and Mrs. Nu's house), or the love between men and women overcomes social prejudices to come together ( Mai), then the fourth movie - " The Guardian Quartet " will be much lighter.

“This time I want to bring something new to my audience. I made a comedy that the whole family can enjoy together. We will welcome the new year with lots of laughter,” the 37-year-old director shared.

"The Guardian Quartet" There are familiar faces who have collaborated with Tran Thanh many times such as Le Duong Bao Lam, Le Giang, Uyen An. He is both the director and one of the four members of the quartet who specialize in "destroying villages and neighborhoods," promising a familiar, approachable, and easy-to-laugh setting.

"The Guardian Quartet" is the second time Tran Thanh collaborated with Galaxy Studio. In 2021, he and this publisher released "Godfather," The work became the first "shot" for a series of box office records later. The film reached 395 billion VND domestically (statistics of Box Office Vietnam), taking the throne of "Get your pregnant wife back" launched in 2019, earning nearly 192 billion VND.

Northern TV stars present

"Love the wrong best friend" attracted attention because of the participation of Thanh Son, a familiar face on VTV's "prime time" broadcast. This is also a rare occasion for a Tet film produced in the Southern market to feature a Northern TV star in a central role.

"Love the wrong best friend" Directed by Nguyen Quang Dung and Diep The Vinh, it is a remake of a Thai film. “Friend Zone” was shown in Vietnam in 2019, earning 53.2 billion VND. The film is a romantic comedy, telling the story of a girl who is placed between her boyfriend and her best friend of the opposite sex.

In the film, Thanh Son plays a musician with a rugged style and grows a beard to look older. He plays the female lead, played by Kaity Nguyen, and is the rival of her best friend of the opposite sex, played by actor Tran Ngoc Vang.

This is the second time Thanh Son appears on the big screen, after the movie State Investment. "The smell of burning grass" (2012) directed by Nguyen Huu Muoi. However, this is the first time he has gone South to act in a privately produced film during the Lunar New Year.

Director Nguyen Quang Dung has made films that have reached or exceeded the 100 billion VND mark, including: "Blood Moon Party," "Southern Forest Land."

Another "hundred billion" face joins the race

After the box office success of “Sister Thirteen: 3 Days of Life and Death” (2019, revenue 108.6 billion VND), actress Thu Trang decided to join the Tet race this year with the movie "The billion dollar kiss." She plays an actress, director and producer.

Over the years, Thu Trang has been a familiar and beloved name in web dramas released on YouTube. In the film industry, she has appeared in many films. "Let me count 2," “I am your grandmother” and “Blood Moon Party,” All reached or exceeded 100 billion VND in revenue.

According to initial promotional information, "The billion dollar kiss" belongs to the family-romance genre, starring Miss Thien An and young actors Le Xuan Tien and Ma Ran Do, most likely also a "love triangle" situation.

This is the second movie the 2000-born beauty queen has participated in, the first was "The Prince of Bac Lieu" (released December 6, 2024), co-starring with Song Luan, the film's main character.
