Red Rain (produced by People's Army Cinema, script: writer Chu Lai) is a feature film about revolutionary war aimed at celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

The film's content is inspired by the 81 days and nights of heroic and resilient fighting by the people and officers and soldiers to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972.
Those 81 days and nights have become a legend, one of the most vivid expressions of the Vietnamese people's aspiration for independence, freedom, and national unification in the resistance war against the US to save the country.
It was the fierce 81-day and night battle to protect Quang Tri Citadel that contributed to the victory at the Paris Conference negotiation table, paving the way for the great victory in the Spring of 1975, liberating the South and unifying the country.

The fiery summer of 1972 appeared through the youthful, brave faces of Squad 1 - young men in their twenties carrying faith and patriotism into the battlefield. There was no free sky, only the night burning with flares, the light of bombs and bullets and the crimson color of soldiers' uniforms stained with dirt.
Amidst the roar of bombs, bright smiles still shine – because as long as they see their comrades beside them, they still have faith in survival. In their rare moments of rest, they still write poems and music, their eyes still sparkling like when they were in the lecture hall. From students, university students, to farmers – they come here and consider Quang Tri their home. The ancient citadel is their home, their comrades are their relatives.
They had never held a gun, but when the Fatherland called their name, they were ready to put aside their youth, blood, and personal feelings. Some put aside their studies, while others, not old enough, wrote letters in blood asking to join the army. All were ready to “let their twenties become waves, and forever wash the shore”.

But how can one not regret being twenty, when one by one people fall? The military doctor (Hua Vi Van) choked: "Every day, hundreds of people are lost."
The heroic song of the Citadel that year was written with the voice of the soldiers, with the sweat, blood and bones of young soldiers ready to sacrifice for the Fatherland. They advanced, carrying with them the belief in independence and unity.
The teaser is filled with smoke, bombs, pained eyes and fallen bodies. But in the end, there is still resilience, resounding the resolute words: "Just let us go to battle, there will be an answer!"

To recreate the historical context of the war at Quang Tri Citadel, the Red Rain film crew built a large-scale studio in Quang Tri town, next to Thach Han river. A version of the Citadel was recreated most realistically in terms of geography and morphology with a system of trenches, tunnels, field meeting rooms, etc., and was also the location of the surgical station, defensive fortifications, and field airport.
The film is directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen and features the following actors: Do Nhat Hoang, Phuong Nam, Lam Thanh Nha, Dinh Khang, Hoang Long, Nguyen Hung, Tran Gia Huy, Hua Vi Van...
The film is scheduled to be released on September 2, 1945.
